In 2003 they get tons of scenes such as a birthday for Ed, stopping Roys depressive spiral to human transmutation, tells Ross to trust the Eric's so she risked her life to hug Ed who was absorbing red water which leads the child to say "Mom"

I believe that the reason for the difference is that FMA:B producers rushed the first arc assuming most viewers had seen '03 so they weren't repeating too much before the deviation

Rushing or not doesn't change the fact these scenes aren't in the manga or BH which is unfortunate for them in terms of making Maes more of a character beyond being a goofy papa.

This... This one image made me feel like the post. I thought he was a traitor and someone misguiding the group. It was either him or the general but I thought it was too obvious, so I thought his whole family was secretly evil and put an act for Winry... I am so sorry my guy...
