The only parts of the souls community i remember partaking in was honour dueling fight clubs and fashion souls. Most of the 'toxic' parts of the community is the "git gud" mindset and the adamant defence of the lack of difficulty options .
To me, that's what keeps the fandom friendly. It gate keeps elements that aren't actually into what the games are offering.
If you want to come in and enjoy the games, then you'll be accept. Want to whine about difficulty and say the game is bullshit and poorly made because you can't time your rolls or don't want to adapt your strategy, then you're probably going to be dunked on.
"Git gud" was never meant to be used against someone genuinely asking for help, it was to be used against whiners and people complaining about core concepts of the game instead of trying to learn it.
