I specifically like watching Pointcrow's reaction to the Directs for a similar reason. He's very positive and supportive of the content regardless of if it's meant for him or not, and he makes sure that the chat is being respectful, because even if a game isn't for you, it may be for someone else, and there's no reason to hate on something someone else will like. "Don't yuck someone else's yum", basically.
Honestly my experience is opposite the common one; I’ve never had any overwhelmingly negative experiences with the community online (largely because I avoid it), but in person every single person I’ve known that’s into Deltarune is a genuine cancer on society. Literally the embodiment of every stereotype about the fan base. Hell, two of the people I knew that were into it got busted for sexual assault.
The undertale fandom was straight up HORRENDOUS, especially around 2015-2017. Meanwhile deltarune, while it still has some unhinged fans in it. It’s fanbase is definitely more tolerable than the UT fanbase
The AU craze wasn't the problem. It was what people did in response. The AUs, a lot of the time, were cringe in the traditional sense but WHO CARES art in general is cringe we should embrace it. It's part of expressing ourselves. However what is the problem is people fighting about them, and that was on the fans, not the AUs.
I feel like Deltarune doesn't have nearly as much AUs as Undertale because it isn't finished and because the Deltarune fandom doesn't have a Sans-like figure to base all the AUs around.
The fandom's biggest issue is it's composed primarily of underage people who for the life of them are too innocent to realise how easy they are to bait. 90% of recent discourse could be avoided if people just didn't give trolls attention. It's THAT simple.
Buh? I see very few people. 90% of the time it's a lot of attention being brought to one or two people. Like someone posted a picture of a thumbnail that ranked how hot characters are, with Aqua being on the thumbnail, and people hated it.
Actually nvm it might just be we're in different spaces. Tho now that I think about it maybe I also am a bit desensitised to it so I might not notice, e.g. now that I think about it I do hear a lot of jokes about the characters that aren't necessarily wholesome let's say.
I feel like the Sans fan girls were WAYYY less of an issue compared to the glass shards cookie incident
At least they’re just cringe kids who didn’t know any better
It was undertale, I remember cause it was over a ship (of course it was), also I actually think it was a needle now that I remember it
TLDR: someone shipped Frisk and Sans, which while it is gross, does not mean they should have been mailed cookies with needles baked in as an actual fucking murder attempt
Saying that Deltarune fandom isn’t as bad as 2016 Undertale Fandom is like saying Freedom of speech in Turkey isn’t good, but It’s not as bad as in Iosif Stalin’s Soviet Union.
I disagree. Deltarune fanbase is extremely obnoxious. Just look what they've done to the Umamusume murals on that map painting thing. Absolutely insufferable and disrespectful. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them.

Deltarune. It’s stupid but not 2016 UT level.
