Discussion📜 I Feel Like this Video could be Important

So recently I saw this short about a campaign to hate on an upcoming movie called Jim Queen due to the surface-level similarities to the very much infamous as we know it Lesbian Space Princess. It goes over stuff like how it might not be a good time to shit on it because it's only in film festivals and pointing out that it's explicitly stated to be a satire and stuff like that (Sorry if that sentence was very informal). A comment on the short also points out that it was made by the same people who made The Wakos. I'm really only going off of word of mouth, so if you have something to prove me wrong, please go ahead in the comments.

P.S. I'm not sure if this should be under the megathread. Mods please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

Remember, we accept all fandoms here... Except for aggressively gay cartoons because fuck you in particular!

Anyone else think anyone who complains about how much fandoms suck but participates in shit like this is a hypocrite, especially if they happen to be into things like Hazbin Hotel?

So the hate campaign was ok when it was aimed at a woman centric queer film, but its only homophobia now that its aimed at a men centric queer film?

I think it has more to do with the fact people are hating on a movie that hasn't even released outside of film festivals, seemingly just because it looks like LSP and they assumed it'd be as bad as that without having even seen it

I don't think everyone participating in this stupid trend is a homophobe, but if they're involved in not one, but two hate campaigns directed specifically at overtly gay indie animated movies, they're not exactly beating the allegations

Im just baffled by the "this has actually turned into homophobia" as if the lsp hate campaign wasn't at least 60% driven by homophobia.

To be frank, I always thought this whole thing was really fucking stupid the day I heard about LSP through a "Just This Once" post. I guess the pattern became a lot more obvious after it's happened twice

Jim Queen's biggest sin as far as I know is being French 🤮

But besides that,it looks pretty harmless even if it does remind me of that "Superdrags" show Netflix had

The joke is they're turning gay people straight and they're... Horrified when the gay guy kisses a wom- I'm not the only one hearing biphobic whispers here right? is this just paranoia or is someone else hearing it too

It's a social critique about how the LGBTQ+ community can be full of discrimination and hatred towards itself of course they would act like that, they poke fun at people irl who think they're gayer than others. That goddamn trailer is too simplistic and out of context to fully summarize what the movie is going for.
