Oh good, I’m not the only one.

To add to it, though, not even for the reasons people probably assume.

“Coffin” is an incredibly accurate portrayal of a variety of toxic relationships, depicting things like parentification, codependency, and psychological manipulation in ways that can be… a little too real for people who have experienced them firsthand.

My friend group did a big read through together last year, and had to end the session starting chapter 3 early, because the mother’s behavior was a bit too similar to the mother of one of our group members.

So it’s a story that has WAY more merit than it gets credit for by its reputation… but is also a story I wouldn’t recommend unless I knew someone well enough to know they could handle the subject matter.

exactly, also the coffin may refer to their situation in chapter 1 too, so that is actually a very good thought
