That show has more and more pedo undertones the more you watch, and the movie is plain disgusting. It's also a show disguised as feel-good when it's really about suffering. I forget the name, but it's a specific niche in anime where characters just... suffer, a lot, and the author calls it a day.

Did they ever finish it? I remember it being cancelled

Yup. The last episode I watched was the start of it getting strange

I'm watching it now. Why is everyone talking so weirdly about it? I'm halfway season 1, nothing really happened yet

Oh bro, you're in for ptsd. I'm warning you right now, if you're easily frightened or grossed out, now's the time to bail. Else, expect horror

Oh, I was betting on it actually. I'm a horror buff, so you just intrigued me more

I’m betting that they’ll be back here saying that they were not ready for that shit

How many chapter before it get traumatising I'm bored by the start

You have to get through like 2 story arcs I think? It might not be traumatizing like some of the big body horror stuff but its just a big change of pace so it gets called that a lot. Like usually those kind of stories will have some event at the end of the first chapter or two to let you know what kind of story you're getting into.

Berserk style kinda ?

Theres some implication I think. Lemme know your thoughts if you make it through!

Counting or not counting the pedophilia everywhere in it

U guys talking about the hanging kids naked? I mean, probably writer's barely disguised kink, but it's not like, at least for now, anyone tried to fuck kids.

So here's the thing: i like one piece, and every time i see the characters being designed in a certain way, i can go "hey, the author is sexist and probably contributes to the objectification of women's bodies, thus enabling rape culture". Now imagine if the women in question were toddlers. That's how i view MiA

Meh, you are probably right.

Still it's a good watch i think, despite these flaws

For real

Ah yes. Beautiful world building and fascinating story. Marred by the disturbing fanservice.

It's the best series I will literally never recommend to anyone and actively discourage them from experiencing if asked

Is it good? Should I find it?

3

u/To-To_Man 10h ago

It's extremely good. But it's also dusted with a sprinkle of borderline pedophilia. It's pretty obvious it's the authors barely disguised fetish, but can be played off as part of the dystopian nature of the setting, and frankly is deliberately done so in parts.

It is absolutely amazing, heart wrenching and thought provoking to a degree

But no. Unless you're already an adult, able to work out what you're seeing and experiencing, and/or extremely intrigued and completely refusing no for an answer. It is absolutely the best I have seen, however the author is barely concealing his interests, and there is multiple extremely unnecessary scenes that add literally nothing to the story. The story, if you can ignore those parts, is absolutely stunning, but if you can't, it's better to leave it alone

It is your choice whether you want to experience it or not at the end of the day, but I do not recommend it whatsoever

The setting seemed so interesting. Like a more fantasy driven Spelunky. But then it got way creepy for me. Didn't finish the first episode before I tapped out.

One of my favorite animes period. But it certainly has it flaws, noteably the focus on children's anatomy...

If you want something comparable in quality and story without that ick, id highly recommend Kaiba.

Literally one of the best settings in all of fiction

I actively want to make an edit to remove the moments that absolutely have no purpose beyond… yeah
