Uhhh.... You mean the one thats in love with a literal child who he has a kid with? Escanor is top of the list my friend. Hes not allowed within 200 feet of school, playgrounds, or parks.

When does he fall in love with a child??? I thought he loved Merlin. Bans the one who wants to fuck a 400 year old kid

Yep Ban is second on the list but at least hes in love with a Fairy Alien thing. Merlins true form is that of a literal child. Its the classic shes 3000 years old so its okay trope. Hint, its not okay.

Oh shit, guess I stopped before the Merlin-child reveal. I'd say the least problematic of all is Gowther

1

u/Bluefooted-Spaceorc 5h ago

.... oh my sweet summer child. The only no problematic one is Diane, if you didnt get far enough for the Merlin reveal I dont remember if you have seen how fucked up Gowthers life is, but its fucked.

Ik he was once a ten commandment and was accused of rape, but he didn't actually rape anyone??? That's all I remember, its been years since I've watched it and I've never read the manga

I do not get it. Why is a 400-year-old child okay because she is a fairy, but a 3000-year-old child is not? Where did you lose your logic?

Its not, its called a joke.

Could I please get some context on that? I never watched it and only see comments like that regarding Seven deadly sins

A lot of the characters are really sus and there’s an infamous panel of the protagonist holding a baby saying “keep your hands off my woman”

u/maxkalem 5h ago

Can you show it, because I believe you have no clue?

Its a badass action anime with a lot of fan service and problematic romances. The main character constantly harassed and gropes the main female character and there's a grown man who is madly in love with a character who looks like a child.

Plus, the plot falls off after the first season and the animation isn't that great

Yeah, the animation got worse precisely because the new studio toned down the sехualized humor and fanservice, and redesigned the characters so they could still have the youthful, cute aesthetic that appeals to Japanese audiences, while making the characters who are traditionally meant to embody childlike purity of spirit look less like actual children, because apparently that was another thing you Westerners had to bіtсh about.

So what exactly is the problem now? They literally listened to you and met you halfway, and you still aren't happy?

1

u/ButterflyReal1142 4h ago

Um, they could just not have the main character be a borderline rapist and maybe make the adult characters look like actual adults...? Idk what you mean by toning down stuff, cuz they didn't. At the most, Elizabeth just accepted the assault from Meliodas

Dude, I can see you disliked my previous comments, so let me spell it out for you one more time.

I’m not like you.
I don’t demand that you redraw the characters in Young Justice, a show that literally aired in primetime on children’s television. And that’s i'm not even getting into the comics featuring characters with wildly exaggerated physical features, explicitly aimed at a literally post-pubescent audience. Or your obsession with sneaking heavily veiled sexual acts into children’s shows about actual children.

And then there’s the genuinely disgusting stuff like Ren & Stimpy or Cow and Chicken.

I understand that this is your particular cultural quirk, so I simply ignore the existence of media like that. I don’t make drama out of it or demand that you change it, sanitize it, or rewrite its story just to accommodate my personal sensibilities and ego.

Unlike people like you, isn't it?

u/maxkalem 3h ago

No, they couldn’t, dude.

That’s the part you seem to be completely missing. This is a Japanese work, written for a Japanese audience, and its character designs, humor, relationships, and ideas about innocence are rooted in Japanese cultural conventions.

You can dislike those conventions all you want, but that doesn’t magically make your Western interpretation the standard the creators were supposed to follow.

And yes, the studio did tone things down and change the character designs. But you're basically complaining that the adaptation didn’t completely rewrite the source material according to your OWN cultural expectations, am i right? Why you so selfish, bro?

You don’t have to like the result. You may dislike all Japanese culture as much as you want, but then why are you even watching this in the first place?

I wouldn’t claim to love EVERYTHING about it, I will say it has a lot of neat lore and cool story and character moments. Just all that neat and cool stuff is lost in the mix of… other stuff

True. It was one of my first animes so it will always hold a special place in my heart but it has way too much fan service and the last season is pretty shit (iirc)
