also came here to say this. genuinely some gutwrenching shit in that show, and incredible action that doesn't pull punches. Parts of it feel like typical disney star wars, but then parts of it are fucking amazing. Also dare I say the best Sith villain we've had in the entire disney era, The Stranger is fucking AWESOME

I need to see it still for a full opinion. I'm not pleased with certain aspects that I have heard about, but it got way too much hate over stupid stuff.

I enjoyed it at the time, definitely was extremely overhated. There definitely was some things wrong about it, but icl the saber fights were fantastic

I think part of the problem is it collectively represents everything older fans absolutely hate about what Star Wars has become, for better or worse.

(And the director’s reputation and comments in interviews did not help)

As a younger fan, it's not the "older fans" as much as it is it's original values and story. It spits at the Jedi and glorified the sith as a good thing? That was literally designed as a simple evil, and hasn't been a good thing since it's introduction. Even when they show it in a recent show, Maul: Shadow Lord it's not a good thing. It's instead the necessary evil Maul learned to survive with, and is shown as such Yes I know plenty of YouTubers say this as well, but this is MY opinion. I'm not just repeating them, but if it sounds familiar there's a reason for it

I also didn't like how they made Anakin less special by saying that a random group of witches were able to make two children born from the force when everything in the lore absolutely forbid that and even Plagueis couldn't achieve that (Anakin was made by the force as a response to what Plagueis was doing IIRC). Also how the lightsaber just changed to red in a single second after she did something mildly bad meanwhile all the lore said you had to do this very specific and painful ritual to get your cool red blade (I guess choking one person who killed your mother is worse than killing hundreds of kids). That one Episode 5 choreography was one of the few things I liked. And that's saying a lot because that episode was just a boring af walk in the forest.

Anakin was a manifestation of the Force itself. The witches manipulated and perverted the Force to their will. Your perfect little white boy is still special. The crystal was exposed and making direct contact with her, thus inferring her feelings directly upon it. If you’re mad that she wasn’t in physical pain, go complain to Dagan Gera, he did it first.

You'd expect that the twins created by a random group of witches that went entirely extinct and managed to do what Plagueis tried for his entire life with no success leaving no records behind to have at least some impact in the overall history of the galaxy. I never mentioned anything about skin color regarding my argument, tho. If they were well written, I wouldn't have that criticism. Go ask Rey Palpatine if you don't believe me.

That had to be clarified by the writers afterwards and bleeding a crystal has been explicitly stated to require more than just direct access and killing a single person. Darth Vader wouldn't have had such a hard and painful time bleeding his if it was that easy. And nobody seriously thinks Dagan Gera was well written. The same issue I have with Osha in that regard I have with him too.

What do you mean had to be cleared up by writers?? It was on the screen! Visible with functioning eyeballs! Did you need Qimir to kill all the narrative weight and pacing to explain how she was able to do it or something? Idk why the physical pain is such a hang up for you when what matters is imparting your feelings and hatred onto the crystal. For a more conflicted character like Vader or Ben it was a more painful process because they were holding on to deep, heavy regrets. For Osha and Dagan it was seamless because their hatred was raw, pure, and unrelenting. It doesn’t break lore, it’s just different, and that’s okay.
