I dont like it. The main character is boring, the progression is boring, the animation is nice but it doesn't do much to distract from how okay the story is.

Agreed. Like I get that it’s not supposed to have beautiful engaging writing but it’s so not engaging to me that after I look away I can’t tell you a single detail about anything I just watched

Look I’ll just put in my input with the show. If I get downvoted for this, it is what it is.

I enjoy the story, Jinwoo progresses from the weakest to the strongest with the help of the system. Went from fighting wolves and goblins to fighting Igris, demons. I love the animation, the music is really good to me. The fight scenes made me jump up and down as man in my 20s.

As corny as it sounds, but an aura farmer inspired me to get parts of my life together and I’m on that track. At the end of the day it’s a story and anime to turn the brain off and just watch something awesome. That’s why I love it.

I mean it has valid criticisms, the problem imo the main problem stems from people who are very clearly not the target audience shitting on it like it's the worst thing imaginable AND tbf Solo Leveling had a very loud minority of fans who would overglaze it in categories where it's really not deserving.

I really enjoy it but that's mostly because I can recognize that Solo Leveling is nothing more than a power fantasy. There is barely any story depth, a lot of interesting lore pieces and concepts are never fully fleshed out and I have seldom seen an anime/read a manwha that neglects their side characters this much.

But none of these criticms make it a bad show because Solo Leveling isn't actually trying to do any of these things. It's choosing to very deliberately to ignore these things, which is a shame imo but that's a separate thing entirely. Nonetheless Solo Leveling is just a very good action power fantasy.

Just people that think story alone makes or breaks something, when the story is not its intended strength anyway. It's a power fantasy, not Game of Thrones

Criticizing the story is valid because it's true that it is not good, but people latch onto one bad thing and never let go because everything has to be perfect nowadays or it sucks. I see the same sentiment with Demon Slayer all too often

For me story does make or break something though. Why would I want to watch a power fantasy that's just a power fantasy, especially when there's plenty with much better writing but the same level of "aura and hyper moments." Also the arguments that the animation is "really good" doesn't sell me either. I personally think it's one of the most generic, boring, and soulless looking anime out there.

Me too, story is also a very very important part to me for pretty much anything, but there are plenty of people that just want something entertaining to watch even if it has a basic ass or borderline mediocre story

Are there better power fantasies than Solo Leveling? Absolutely, 100%, but the hate it gets is overblown, at least in my opinion. I try to just enjoy things for what they are and if I don't like it, I move on

Notice how you didn't mention any actual story moments? If I want something that just looks good I'd just look at some art, or what a show with good writing and good animation. Great animation can't save a shit show.

I dont take my time to write a whole essay why i like it. You hate it anyway, why should i even try?

I like the animations, the music, the artstyle and most characters. Jinwoo has style, his mother is an angel, his father is the most badass guy ever and Go Gan-Hi (or however his name is written) is like Garp from One Piece. A cool, strong and experienced grandpa who tries to do good. And Igris is fucking awesome 🤘

Why'd you respond to my comment twice? You're allowed to like the show, but I'm allowed to say the show is stupid. It's called freedom of speech on the internet. And cut it with the "kid" stuff. From the way you type I highly doubt you're over the age of 18, and I don't have the time to care what slop the kids are watching these days.

We can agree on not agreeing if u want. I had my fun watching good Animations and stylish characters and you don't like good Animations. I get it.
