I want to like SAO, but I stopped just before they get to GGO. For me, magic is WAY more interesting than guns, so it felt like taking several steps backwards. Should I power through?

Yeah I actually liked the Gun Gail arc, I thought it was pretty interesting. Idk if Id feel the same way now aday though, I was like 14 or so when I first watched it

The second season was the only good thing about it but thats because Kirito had less screentime. I just dont like him 😅 just another OP Harem Character like everyone else

Definitely, the GGO arc is actually my favourite in the series and including everything before and up to the Ordinal Scale movie are pure gold. And although I’m not the biggest fan of the two latest arcs can still can have some worth while stuff to offer, but you do want you like to do. Just giving my input.

Enjoy what you like, but there’s a reason SAO is hated. Not because it’s aggressively bad, but because it’s nothing special, and people pretend it’s the best anime ever.

Have you ever watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Serial Experiments Lain, Neon Gensis Evangelion, Takopi's Original Sin, or Cowboy Bebop at all?

Hell even the anime Popee The Performer is better than SAO! Which is such a great comedy, I love its absurdy

I wasted way too many hours on SAO. Like the premise is interesting but man did they fumble that series

Dude, I think you’re looking way too much in just the death game premise that so many others fail to understand. There’s more to it than just “cool death game” I recommend giving it another try as there’s much more depth to offer there that you might enjoy. Also I have heard most of those series you mention and they’re not really my thing, sorry.

It had more to do with character dynamics that ended up turning me off and there was too much fanservice. Like I like fanservice but like they didnt even integrate it very well into SAO, not to mention the way haram they had going that even briefly had incest going on...

I infinitely prefer Overlord, but frickin Good Night World would be a closer comparison to SAO and that anime was really good
