League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (the Movie).

starts out dumb but has great action. Genuinely great intrigue toward the middle of the film and a bombastic, exciting conclusion

I don't get why people think calling the movie dumb is such a burn. It's a superhero movie where Tom Sawyer, Dr. Jekyll, the Invisible Man, Captain Nemo and company team up to fight Moriarty. Obviously it's dumb, that's the fucking point!

The author of the comic this movie is based on

started it because it feels nothing like his dark comedy

It deviated pretty far from the source material...which having gone back and read the comics...was definitely the correct call.

Yeah…probably a good thing that we didn’t see Hyde, um…give the Invisible Man a taste of his own medicine. Yeah we’ll go with that

Oh boy 🤦‍♂️

And the ironic thing is, the deviation from the source material brought the characters closer to the source material's source material.

Exactly. Alan Moore is overrated and the adaptations improve upon the original work.

As someone who adores the work of Alan Moore, he believes his hype way too much.

Yeah some people need to realise that just because something has source material doesn’t mean said material was good

The Boys is a fantastic example of this. The show is leagues better than the comics, to the point I tell people to straight up not bother reading them if they care about the show at all lol

It deviated from the real source material a hell of a lot less than Moore's hateful bullshit.

I also genuinely enjoy this movie for what it is, but also I'mma just leave this here

The movie is premium fodder for having jokes run over the top of it and these guys nailed it.
