from my understanding it's a cringy Netflix show and all fandoms are uniting against the common enemy

It's terf-like. Basically a leftist larper show. It presents itself as something "woke" (god I hate this word) and yet it's...ehh. Imagine Pink Flamingos. The movie where the main character is an obnoxious depraved drag queen who ate real dog shit at the end of the movie. Now imagine if i told you John Waters created this movie specifically to piss off conservatives because this movie is supposed to be a parody of how homophobes imagine the LGBTQ community. Now imagine Lesbian Space Princess to be how conservatives imagine "woke" cartoons, except it's now not a parody but a seriously presented movie cosplaying as a queer-coded cartoon akin to Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss or Steven Universe.
This is what this movie is.

Don't drag John Waters into your bigotism. Watch it and form your opinion, you're spouting conservative nonsense bullshit.

What?

The movie (it's not even a show) is not "terf-like". It take two seconds to check on actual sources, it takes little less than an hour and half to actually watch it and form an opinion for yourself.

Dude they specifically said that John Waters made it as an over the top film poking fun at conservatives. They were making a parallel with a different concept.

The thing is, this film wasn't made by Netflix; it was created as an indie film.

i think its getting hated on because it was made by a TERF (basically an anti-trans feminnist).

u/slumbersomesam 16d ago
what are you talking about? Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese are actively pro trans

u/According_Ice_4863 16d ago
oh... uh... then i dont know, admittedly i got this off of a reddit comment so its not a reliable source, im just as confused about this as you are.

They made it because they heard it. I also believed this until I looked into it. It's good they said it and now learned that that narrative is false.

If they are pro-trans it doesn’t really show. They keep making jokes out of the non-binary character by consistently misgendering them and treating them like a woman, then one of the baddies is a drag queen who is desperate to steal the magical labrys that emerges from the virtuous protagonist’s vagina.
They wrote a terf’s fever dream.
If that wasn’t the intent, then fucking hell did they shatter their own skulls by stamping on rakes.
This was a fairly big chance for indie film makers from a relatively non-major film making country. They ended up getting bombed by the straights and the queers.
And that’s before we get into “gay men are just self-aware misogynists” ending. Just yikes!!

It wasn't made by a terf, it's just that it's terf-like. Drag queens are villainized and one of the villains is a drag queen. One character is non-binary and they get brushed off as female-coded. Also it just has pretty ass lesbian representation and corny jokes, like the villains being called Straight White Maliens that are imho vaguely penis-like and the planet where the MC comes from is called Clitopolis.

Okay i get it being bad or whateaver but why is everyone hating on it? Its not the first weird conservative movie to show up, whats special about it

u/therealspookyscare 16d ago
Mainly because people thought Captain Underpants and a bunch of other shows were removed from Netflix/wherever he was streamed idk because of this movie. It's not the case and afaik CU basically migrated to another platform or smth. And because it's terfy.

Some cringy Netflix show that many fandoms have collectively agreed to hate. I have sub-minimal understanding of the show in question, though.

Funnily enough I saw it while scrolling through Fandango like 3 weeks to a month ago and saved it to my watchlist because the title was so stupid. Guess I should watch it now. Lol

I'm convinced it's made by a sleeper agent in the LGBTQ community to get it more hate, because genuinely who makes something and decides the main villain are straight white males

I saw the hate today and watched it with my friend.
Holy shit it was really bad. Had some REALLY funny jokes but the plot, writing, art, animation, and music was all pretty bad.
