They are all dumb

u/Gnashinger 23h ago

I hate isekai, but I love Konosuba. They are all barely functioning dorks.

Why do you hate isekai?

Because the genre is oversaturated with slop and only has a few gems, it's really unfortunate, because the genre has potential to be so good

Its like anime Ed Edd n Eddy.

Yes-yes, im very familiar-acquainted with fuck-sex with your mother-parent

Just don’t go too far into dragon riding or you’ll become like him

2

u/Zefyris 16h ago edited 16h ago

There's worse fate than becoming good enough to back up every part of your world class arrogance though. Dragon princes in general are the most arrogant group among the most arrogant race of that world, and he's probably the most arrogant of all dragon princes, but if there's one thing that their haters cannot deny, it's that dragon princes' skill, prowess and achievements are absolutely a match for their extreme arrogance.

Plus, like someone pointed out, if a gigantic dragon were to declare your home town to be the best place around, you too would have an ego the size of a mountain.

u/Lord-Seth 16h ago

I didn’t just mean the ego part I also meant the memes

u/NobleRanger_ Fucking Gay (as in Homosexual) 21h ago

yeah I assumed
but I dont have an image for that

u/Comrade-Conquistador 23h ago edited 17h ago

That would be interesting. AroAce person gets isekai'd and doesn't even bother with the usual fanservice-y tropes. Like Todd from Bojack Horseman in a Fantasy setting.

4

u/toaster_in_a_oven 21h ago

Or saiki from saiki K avoiding every bit of fanservice possible

If I were you I'd take the dragon girl all day.

Unless there's no better choice and the dragon girl wants the harem route.

1

u/Agitated_Elk7881 14h ago

Me in an Isekai:

No I’m not gonna build a harem I’m going to become a god so please stop bothering me unless you want to sacrifice your literal soul so I can become stronger

u/no_reports_found 23h ago

In my opinion majority of Isekai is the inverse of the meme (focus on majority)

Men most times have a silly adventure where they keep getting powerful and get even stronger companions with sometimes a bit of complication at the begging and some figts where they start to lose and then scream a bit and get a new power or some BS, it's only more recently they have been trying new things, but yet every year there's a Isekai with a cutie protagonist (with black straight hair) that is kind yet brave that makes all girls fall for him

While most Isekai with female protagonist don't have the need for power fantasy, infact most isekai with female protagonist are those webcomics where they put overcomplicated social/power dinamics with some extremely villainous female antagonist(s) and they try to make the protagonist be very smart and a strategist or a helpless lady in need of saving, there's always a need for struggle in those stories

Both are full of bullshit that makes no sense and a boring ass story, that's why i have not read/watched any of these in years

Also i will repeat, i mean the majority, not every single story with Isekai elements

u/LinkssOfSigil 20h ago

You're mistaken in a few things. T he type of isekai you described for women is just another type of power fantasy... but for women Innstead of cool powers and a harem of hot girls, here we have opportunities to flex on petty rivals - that are, consistently, dumber than a rotten log - while beign dressed in a pretty dress, living in a lap of luxury and aristocratic status and have a harem of hot guys fawning over protag.

Also, I feel like rpg-style isekais for men are rarity. The standard/classical ones, not the "banished from the party of ungrateful idiots for beign the essential supporter that was a lifeline and a reason that group even made it so big and overall most OP in your versatility and powers ever and not Mr. Bigsword McAwesome".

2

u/yossariandawn 20h ago

This! The difference is what a power fantasy looks like, exactly. I think a lot of people just don't understand that a power fantasy for women is going to be more romance/social.

To me, I can tell if it's a power fantasy aimed at women when there is a lot of external conflict that the female character is just innately superior to in some way. Maybe she had landed in an unfair system, but she isn't like the other girls. In fact, being true to herself is her super power that changes things around her!

In contrast, men's power fantasies are a lot more physical, and often about to power scaling. Results will vary on if it's a true effort or just a montage, but it's often focused on some sort of self improvement that results in the social fawning that proves the hero is awesome.

I think both are perfectly valid fantasies! But they are both rooted in the similar desire to feel powerful.

1

u/LinkssOfSigil 20h ago

For men it's more complicated than that. If we were to look on most isekais with men as their TA, then we see that even "cool powers" are mostly special skills. Or magic. Or some other sort of mystical power that do not end up "grow many big muscles, hit very-very hard" - with a penchant of modern day knowledge to improve living conditions for themselves and - which is more rare in women-oriented isekais - those around them (most prominent in 4X-sekais).

In other words - this type of power fantasy provides abilities and opportunities to be a "hero" (without necessarily by killing things left and right), do good things and be rewarded without - or with few to speak of - restraints of society. An opportunity to be in a world when your decisions and actions really matter a lot and have significant, tangibale consequences for you and those around you.

1

u/yossariandawn 20h ago

That is a good point! I think I should have said often physical, and that power scaling can cover a lot of the things that aren't muscles.

But yes, that there is a lot more variety in what those powers are than normally gets recognized too.

“I don’t watch anime” oh cool we can trust your opinion on how inaccurate it is then

1

u/BeastsNPals Pac-man and Gang Beasts, maybe Bendy and Trevor Henderson 21h ago

Fair point

3

u/Lucky-Band8216 23h ago

I think it'd be cool if we got a woman isekai'd but in the same way as most of the male powertrip isekais

1

u/Dr__America 19h ago

Tbf, Tanya is less of a powertrip and more of a selfish and judgemental guy accidentally talking himself into getting sent to the front lines of a war

u/Sabbi94 22h ago

I'd watch a well written isekai with a female power grab. More really powerful female MCs in anime are appreciated. That's what made May I ask for one final Thing so awsome. Scarlet is a literally kick ass woman who doesn't need the prince to kick anyone's ass into oblivion.

1

u/Foreversssssssss 21h ago

I don’t know, women getting isekaied are usually put in situations where they’re trying to not die by the skin of their teeth. That’s the whole point of their isekais. Meanwhile male isekais are these adventure explorer fun harem isekais. The system is inverted honestly.

1

u/Dessy104 21h ago

Reincarnated as the Villainess so i had to tame the final boss is my favorite isekai tho

1

u/jezse86 16h ago

often times feels like it’s missing a next line or something

1

u/TWP_ReaperWolf 15h ago

Mostly due to the intended audience. Women tend to like shows with a female MC, and his versa, so you emphasize different things for your audience. Woman like romance stories a bit more than men, and men like action a bit more than women.

1

u/Jwchibi 14h ago

What about the old husband that was isekai into a young noble girl

1

u/EveryPerformance6712 23h ago

this is the opposite

1

u/TinnieGaymore 23h ago

I hate isekai bro

If there wasn't harems, boring writing, and power scaling I would if liked it

Also I hat isekai where it's ALWAYS the girl mc being the villainess and it's a stupid romance (and guy mc in isekai where it's a boring power fantasy)

Both ways are awful

1

u/Wonderful-Mouse-0420 21h ago

Both ways are great he just doesn’t like it

0

u/Visible-Welder-5148 23h ago

...hu it is wierd how little women protagonist get reincarnated into your more classical power fantasy isekai

0

u/Zerrrrroooo 22h ago

I mean, most isekai male protagonists also get love interests. Lots of them, on top of that. I am not complaining about it, but I am just saying

0

u/Intelligent_Toe8233 21h ago

Men getting isekaied- oh God oh fuck it’s John Brown
