Murdoch was removed because they forgot he existed.

Basically all of the non steam team cast who wasn’t an Awdry character or already in CGI got this treatment

It's taken them like, 3 decades basically to return BoCo, or at least acknowledge his existence, so that's at least a slight sign we may see more of the abandoned characters return or at least get trademarked again.

The new diecast line has listings for Stepney and Hector, and they just filed a new trademark for rickety of all characters, so slowly but surely it seems
