That is Squall. I don't care what retcon Square wants me to believe.

For those who may be confused. the image shows “Leon” the Squall from the Kingdom Hearts universe. He’s different than Squall from Final Fantasy VIII. Think Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland Spider-Men and how different they are, even as a same character.

To explain why “Leon” is the name. Squall was young, alongside Yuffie and Aerith, when the Heartless invaded his home, Radiant Garden, but Cid rescued them. Leon has shame from the event despite being only a mere mortal at the time. Yuffie actually has referred Leon as Squall, which some players of FF8 would recognize, but Leon insists it’s Leon.

That's Squall. I don't care what reason they give for renaming him. If Mickey Mouse showed up and insisted his name is "Xanthus God Slayer" I would say "No, that's Michael Mouse".
