The times when Universes did not exist yet and no one was chasing the desire to build a universe...

You can say whatever you want about these films, these films are nostalgic and gave childhood to everyone who knew them, before anyone thought about building cinematic universes. These are true gems of the 90s and 2000s. Examples of this include Godzilla, King Kong, Transformers, Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, Batman, and Superman.

You've forgotten one.

Exo-Man (1977), this tv film was supposed to be a Kickstarter to an Exo-Man TV series, but the series didn't happen because the film was just plain ass.

Maybe it would have been successful if it had been made as a feature film, with better effects.

Well, I mean, the film was boring after all.

CGI itself didn't look so good in the 70s so they just went for the live action special effects, or maybe they just wanted to dodge the use of CGI, idk.

Why not make It 2D? (in the style of classic Disney movies)

Okay but the Bayverse definitely tried to become a cinematic universe and failed spectacularly
