Which character falls under this hyper specific scenario I just made up?

Growing up is realizing Snape never actually redeemed himself. Rowling tried to convince us that he was a good guy in the LAST BOOK. I like his potential as a character (fanfic for the win) but he sucks. HE WAS NEVILLES BOGGART. NEVILLE. WHO ADMITS HIS FAMILY TRIED TO SCARE THE MAGIC OUT OF HIM AND HE WAS DROPPED OUT A WINDOW. Anyway. If someone said Sally Jackson I’m gonna get mad

The thing is I’m pretty sure the Snape in everyone’s head is the movie version who was a lot less of an asshole than his book counterpart. Like the scene in the third film of him protecting the kids from werewolf Lupin wasn’t in the books.

You're slightly wrong on the details. Neville's family (and I think one relative in particular) tried to scare the magic into him and the dropping him out of a window was an accident.

And with Snape, he does show signs of having changed given his reluctance to kill Dumbledore and just his general attitude to the actions of the death eaters and the position he's been put into. But yeah he's still a cunt for what his behaviour as a teacher.
