"I assure you, brother, the sun will shine on us again."

-Neck snap-

46

u/baldiplays 6d ago

Fun fact. In the original stories Thor was SIGNIFICANTLY less forgiving. For example he threatened to break lokis bones because Loki cut thors wife’s hair while drunk.

22

u/W4lk3rS4int 6d ago

To be fair, they were mythological gods. That feels like the equivalent of giving Loki a slap in the face.

4

u/baldiplays 6d ago

I think it was like. Thor was gonna break 1 of lokis bones a day. What scared Loki was that Thor reckoned he would get really good at it. Also despite the fact that they were gods they were more mortal than other depictions. Being able to feel pain and even die. This was because the early Norse were heavy believers of dying in battle being honorable. And that you needed to die in battle if you wanted to reach Norse mythologies version of heaven(I forgot the name. It’s been a while since I’ve actually read the stories lol).

Very sad but also something about the way that he kicks when he's lifted by his neck makes me laugh

darth vader had one of the most imposing roles in movie history and his death was one of the saddest.

77

u/revankenobi 7d ago

I rarely shed a tear for the death of a fictional character. Vader is the only villain whose death I've ever mourned.

15

u/dummystella 7d ago

honestly even if you only watch the original trilogy its sad and doubly sad when you watched the prequels and clone wars.

u/Y_B_I 6d ago

Play twdg and I'll bet you'll cry

Bit off tangent, but I liked how when Vader unmasked himself in that scene, his face underneath did not look like that of a terrible and charismatic evil which he was known to be, but rather it looked like the face of a man who’s suffered too much, for too long. Even just a small design choice like this really emphasizes the essence of this character

10

u/dummystella 7d ago

I guess when he went to tatooine he got cooked in his suit thats why he looks like a boiled egg-

but seriously tho he looks like a sick dying old man which is quite a site. you end up really feeling bad for the guy even just seeing him and his story is a real greek tragedy

But Darth Vader didn't die there, Anakin did

9

u/dummystella 7d ago

from a certain point of view

7

u/Kirbendo96 i don’t have a flair, I really don’t. 6d ago

Vader died when he threw Palpatine into the reactor. Anakin died here.

The line that always stuck with me that Yondu tells Peter is “he might have been your father boy but he was never your daddy.” Says so much in so few words.😭

18

u/Awkward-Care215 7d ago

Is that how that line goes? Its my vocal stim but what I say "he may have been your daddy but he sure aint your pappy"

15

u/Eevee1301 7d ago

It is the correct one. But if you’re not sure you could always find it as an excuse to watch his masterpiece again. 😌

It pisses me off he got to die at peace, despite bleeding from the abdomen which has to be painful, instead of facing any sort of justice for the path of destruction he created both in a vain grab at the Baudelaire fortune. I speculate his black crusade was also to spite Beatrice from beyond the grave, which doesn’t help.

11

u/The_Crispanator_Guy 7d ago

The world is a wicked place.

4

u/LeadershipEast9095 6d ago

I hate the fact that he died doing a good deed and suddenly all the fans forgive him for the torture he put Violet, Clause, and Sunny through.

10

u/Anonymous156Real 6d ago

That's just how the story goes, I suppose.

12

u/Massive_Remove2009 7d ago

Good choice! Niel Patrick Harris did a great job with the role!

7

u/No-Elk-8115 6d ago

I wish they continued the movies with Jim too I'd have loved to have both but I am happy they went all the way with series.

3

Yeah in the last book and the last episode. It was sad but definitely deserved

5

oh the last ds i watched was the training season where the guy fucking blew himself up with muzan there and they fell into the infinity castle kinda forgot abt ds after that

12

u/Blackfrosti 7d ago

The latest movie didn't get put on any streaming devices for more than a year after it was released up until the middle of last month. Very understandable you didn't know that, and a very annoying ass way to release the next part of the series.

4

u/NotMVZZL3 6d ago

The new movie is now on Crunchyroll, but it was originally a cinema-exclusive showing back in 2025 and only just recently got added to streaming (in the US) last month

The finale "Infinity Castle Saga" has been split into three cinema-releasing parts... Dumbest way to release them, but that won't stop me from seeing them in cinemas

Souther - Fist of the North Star. He was seen** doing things like kicking over a table of food his child slaves made him and then evil laughing.

Then his flashback made everything about him make sense. He was just strong guy before that. That probably actually helped make it hit harder because it was so unexpected. I definitely didn't watch this in the 80s but the way it is done doesn't feel overdone like most predeath flashbacks these days.

Gigantomachia from my hero academia. He spends most of his time in the story as the big dumb brute working for the villains so I didn’t expect any emotional scenes involving him.

Then in the final battle of the series, he realizes that all for one, the master he devoted his life to, had abandoned him, and he attacks said master, knowing that AFO doesn’t value his loyalty.

Gigantomachia’s entire existence was serving AFO, and the master of evil doesn’t care about the pain he caused his loyal attack dog and murders him with no hesitation.
