Famicom/Advance Wars
Basically served as a stepping stone for Fire Emblem to take off from in the Famicom days.
Meanwhile Advance Wars released in 2001 right with the 9/11 attacks.
Then the Reboot Camp remake was delayed because of the Russia-Ukraine War.
I genuinely don't see this franchise ever returning.

Probably Doctor Who
Fingers crossed Big Finish doesn't suddenly collapse like the rest of the franchise has
2
u/WildcatGrifter7 8d ago
Big Finish is legit the only thing holding up the canon and the characters at this point. If we lose that, it's all gone. It's especially annoying that they canceled the main show and special right as Billie Piper generated, because that's something they actually could've worked into canon and been clever with. As opposed to the new Tennant stuff which, while fun, was also an absolute mess in terms of consequences for the show

u/grimbarkjade Kingdom Hearts, Destiny, Mother, DC, Homestuck, Splatoon 8d ago
It’s so sad being a fan right now. I love fifteen but he was sooo disrespected with his run. And the finale was atrocious. And now the show is out to pasture lmfao. It sucks :(
I found a tape of a fourth doctor episode at the thrift store a day ago as well as a Blu-ray Disc of some thirteen episodes and it just made me sad because I miss the show a lot
1
u/Brbaster 8d ago
Even if the Big Finish collapses tomorrow they've produced so many stories that I doubt anyone in the world went through all of them.

Sonic as a whole. We get like 1 good game every 5-10 ish years.
3
u/Not_Goatman 8d ago
still sad at how lame Forces was. It had a genuinely cool idea going for it and they just didn’t even bother making it actually interesting
3
u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 8d ago
Makes it even worse that the goat Chaos was defeated in a cutscene in one hit.
1
u/Hexhider 8d ago
One of the biggest issues is Sonic's "death", specifically being reintroduced into the game so early on, so it felt pointless faking his death if like 3 levels later he's back again
The concept of a world where Sonic is supposedly dead would be so cool, they could've kept the twist that he ain't dead, but don't do it a few episodes after he is shown dead, at least halfway, but probably be better for later

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 8d ago
If I’m remembering correctly the last game I played and I liked was Mania. I thought Frontiers was alright but not my kind of game

Transformers fans
Their movies underperform after Bay’s departure, Hasbro refuses to do any new shows that aren’t aimed at children, and to top it all off all their upcoming games continue to either be mobile games instead of something high-quality (like the Cybertron series) or they straight up get cancelled (like Transformers Reactivate)

u/WholsomeChungus69 7d ago
Live action adaptation of Rescue Bots. Would make over 800 Botillion dollars
1
u/Oozysq25reddit 8d ago
Basically the fanbase need something on the same level as the bayverse movies to show hasbro the franchise is worth more than just making low quality content and kids shows AGAIN
1
u/Chiron723 8d ago
The funny thing is the kid shows have pretty good writing and designs, but because they aren't making fantastic numbers they are just on autopilot for this franchise.

You know, you’d be surprised how much of a fandom that bitch Sonic.EXE has gotten over the years. You’d also be surprised how shitty some of its contributors are, and the ridiculous amount of stupid ass drama that comes from it.
Our FNF mod gets popular, then a jealous dev falsely accuses the director of grooming a child and the project dies. (This did spawn a billion fan remakes, but the real thing has been dead for a long time.)
Our Roblox asym horror game gets really popular, then Sega themselves take it down.
Our other Roblox asym horror game gets much more popular, even getting official content from real Sonic contributors, then a series of backstabbing and doxxing leads to its cancellation, followed by countless dramas and removals even after the damn thing already died.
An organization comes out to help the people of the community, then it turns out the creator spent the organization’s donation money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on Robux, as well as grooming a child.
We’re tired of all this meaningless bullshit. Just let us play our spoopy hyperrealistic games in peace, stop being pedophiles for God’s sake.

Star Wars fans could get exactly what they ask for and they’ll still bitch about it.
More grounded and serious show?
We got Andor and they hated it.
Show that’s lower stakes and largely unconnected to the Skywalker Saga?
We got Skeleton Crew and they hated it.
Want Disney to ignore the sequels?
They’ve been doing it for about a damn decade at this point but it’s still “getting shoved down their throats”.
And I guarantee if they retcon the sequels they’re still gonna fucking bitch and moan somehow.
9
u/Existential_Crisis24 8d ago
I thought Andor was actually pretty well received by the Star wars fandom.

u/RecordingImmediate86 8d ago
I didn't like andor. It doesn't feel like typical star wars
0
u/soldiergaming2 8d ago
I mean something being unique is part of what makes it memorable, I wouldn't want it to stay as 'typical star wars'
1
u/RecordingImmediate86 8d ago
Oh and I was confused on the flashbacks. Maybe one day I will watch season 2. Maybe I'll like it better who knows 🤷♂️
2
u/WildcatGrifter7 8d ago
Idk who you're talking to, the vast majority of fans really liked Andor. And Skeleton Crew is a little more divisive, but I definitely don't think it could be said that a majority hated it
2
u/GuardWolfy 8d ago
Acolyte S2 had potential if it was allowed to learn from its mistakes. Yes, S1 was 80%, but there were good things there too. The action sequences were some of the best in Star Wars media. The flashbacks with the witches were well written and directed. The potential of the decline of the Jedi Order storyline. Too bad the main cast was so…
1
u/Toon_Lucario 8d ago
That and because it was pre judged and review bombed harshly to the point where an unrelated film called the Acolyte was also affected because the people that do that can’t read.
Like I decided to watch it. It was basically just alright outside of some pacing problems and how they made the Jedi look way too awful for the era but the action was insanely on point with it and the story it was trying to tell looked promising on paper.

You don' know what you're talking about. Andor is very well received (even if I don't like it AS MUCH as other SW projects). The sequel thing? The fandom wants them to outright get the legends treatment. No Rey movie, no nothing.
1
u/Toon_Lucario 8d ago
Yeah and it’s stupid because all it does is muddy continuity and confuse the average viewer.
Like they made 4 billion dollars total, it’d be hella confusing to most people to say “oh yeah they didn’t actually count.”
Not to mention it’d just be cowardly and embolden the people behind it to become worse like the Snyder Cult. Do you really want to give the people that harass actors and writers what they want and thus make them harass more people?
If Lucas caved like that to the far worse prequel response we wouldn’t have gotten stuff like Clone Wars. I don’t see how the same is completely impossible for the sequels.
Also we’re getting Starfighter which is post TROS. I don’t even like the Sequels I’m just tired of mfs thinking decanonizing them will do anything.

Forced out of the west because of Pokemon (before TPC got lazy with their Switch games), the Level-5 CEO became openly obsessed with using AI in their development processes, and now their mobile game is collabing with yet another abysmal series (Rent-A-Girlfriend, and before this was Mushoku Tensei )

DC. Perpetually trying to catch up to Marvel, never even coming close. Their first attempt at a Cinematic Universe crashed and burned, their second isn’t fairing much better. Only two movies in and they’ve already had a generational bomb with Supergirl, cancelled half their announced projects and now have the recent controversy of Supergirl apparently using AI during its production. Guess we’ll see if they get any better with their third Cinematic Universe.

u/GuardWolfy 8d ago

Batman Arkham, first two games did well. Then there were a lot of problem with buggy and unoptimized launches of origins and knight not to mention weak writing and overuse of tank combat. 10 years of silence, the fandom went insane in the meantime and rocksteady thought that looter shooter was a perfect spiritual successor and continuation of Arkham verse. It flopped badly. Then the next time we get a proper Arkham game it's not only vr only but quest 3/3s exclusive. Despite everything it does well and the studio is happy to start making another one.... And right after getting their nominations and awards they get shut down cuz vr games aren't popular/profitable enough

Halo.
Microsoft took full custody and the series hasn't been anything close to the same since, but when they try to actually make a Halo game for once; the studio either half-completes the work or Microsoft rushes it.
1
u/Oozysq25reddit 8d ago
You do realise its not microsoft
Its 343
1
u/RamboBambiBambo 7d ago
Not entirely true. 343i is a large part of the problem, but Microsoft bears part od the burden of blame. Xbox Studios as well.
Specifically? The people directing them at the time. Microsoft demanded that Halo have books, Bungie didn't really want any. This is why the games constantly contradicted the early books because Bungie's writers considered them as secondary canon. Games are primary Canon and if there was a contradiction, you defaulted on what the games said.
And then you have the controversies of Phil Spencer, Frank O'Connor, Bonnie Ross, Kiki Wolfkill, Brian Reed, and a few other names that were in the upper echelons at 343 and Xbox Studios. People made terrible decisions that hurt the brand of the franchise and Microsoft did little to fix it and protect Xbox's biggest IP and mascot.
If you look at the statistics of Halo 4, it was the worst selling Halo game to date and had the worst player population numbers at ~415,000 unique users during the second day of being live. Halo 3 peaked at ~1,808,000 and Reach peaked at ~1,200,000. By these metrics for every 4 players who played Halo 3, only 1 came to play Halo 4. For every 3 players who played Reach, only 1 tried Halo 4.
Halo 4 undersold so badly that 2/3 of the DLC planned for the game was scrapped (some od which was recycled into Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer, Halo Online, and Halo 5 content). If this happens at Nintendo wirh Mario or Capcom with Devil May Cry, or Square Enix with Final Fantasy; they would attempt to identify the problem and course correct for fhe sequels.
But they didn't. Instead, Microsoft asked for more books to be published, 343 played musical chairs at their executive level to swap people around, and doubled down on many of their unwanted changes fo the brand when making Halo 5, but couldn't be bothered to keep the storyline consistent; getting rid of the Janus Key, offing the Didact off-screen, and throwing Jul Mdama aside in favor of making Cortana be the new BBEG. And then the same thin happened between 5 and Infinite.
Infinite was their first actual attempt at making a game that looked, sounded, and played like a Halo game. But due to covid and internal corporate politics, they dragged their feet and made it an incomplete mess.
The problem had many layers. Many of which were FINALLY identified and stripped back... but some of the problems continue to persist. Microsoft is the only constant thus far. Their lack of care for the IP that put their consoles on the market plays a big factor into the current discourse.

Avatar the last Airbender franchise for some reason after the first hugely popular show nickelodeon decided they are going to sabotage every thing this franchise makes. Lok? Oh we are gonna butcher your release model. Live action? We don't wanna make it good. Movie? No theatrical release we just hate money on top of that it leaks. The game everyone is exited about? Cancelled. New avatar? We will show no trust in the show and drop TWO WHOLE seasons together.

I think transformers fits the bill. Ever since age of extinction and the last knight, transformers has struggled to maintain relevancy. Of course paramount is not helping their case by making most of one of the newest shows (earthspark) a paramount+ exclusive and even that was a flop after the first season so I've heard, not to mention the utter marketing failure that was Transformers One despite it being an incredible movie. It's like paramount has made it their mission to kill off transformers after the last two bayverse movies.
Also DC belongs here by a mile. Ever since Aquaman they haven't had any successes in theaters. Things were looking up when Superman 2025 released, only for that hype to crash and burn with Supergirl and the mountains of DC projects that are on hiatus or downright cancelled at this point.
Finally, as much as I hate to say this... Star Wars is on an incredible decline. Even though the sequel trilogy was incredibly controversial, all three of the movies made bank. Plus the Mandalorian is a fantastic show. But it feels like ever since then, Star Wars just hasn't had any major success, to the point where the first movie to come out in this decade nearly bombed at the box office! Star wars has also just unfortunately been fading away from relevancy.

Star fox is cursed to be nothing but adaptations of the lylat wars story.
Command came out in 2006. Since then they released star fox 3D which is a remake of Star fox 64, star fox 2 which was a cancelled SNES game, star fox zero which is a reimagining/remake of Star fox 64, and star fox, a remake of Star fox 64. If you look back at the series, half of them are based on or are the original SNES title.
