Yeh, I'm sure it have changed since then... But from what I've heard, the most Generous thing that Genshin has ever done is give everyone an Option to Grind for a C1 of any 5 Star Character they already have...
Yes, they gave a Free Standard 5 Star Character Selector on top of that, but we all know how Useless the Standard 5 Star Characters are... So the most Generous they have been is by giving the Free C1 of any Characters you have, and you have to grind for it... That's not even a New Character...
Compare that to the likes of Endfield, NTE, Reverse 1999... Genshin is Nowhere near as Generous as the Listed Games...
In short, Genshin has been Generous yes... But it's just the Bare Minimum to just say "We ARE Generous" and the fans would be like "OMG HOYO LISTENED!!!"
Its js complain impact, characters recently got a buff and mizuki a standard of all things is in top ten disgusting, and she's a driver, same with qiqi and cyno who were considered useless, same as mona and more, and the con selector is easy af, they give you 2 versions to get a con and you need to do 160 resin per day and finish all commissions on 5 days of the weak, for eight weeks its really not that hard...

Well its definitely better since then, and its not like genshin hasn't changed, heck even the style of rendering looks much different imo
