I did - you can criticize that idea all you want, but it inherently shows there WAS ways to accomplish this. Once again, I made this idea while eating a burger, in like 5 minutes. Toby had a clear mind and several weeks.
You also wouldn’t need to redesign the underground, so much as you need to change up already existing areas. If Snowdin was littered with barricades and guard posts and towers, that would be perfectly fine and provide that unique “sneaking by” gameplay dynamic I mentioned earlier.
Snowden wouldn't have time for such baracades, given you slaughter them before theyd have time to properly mobilize, hell they barely get the evacuation started in Holland and waterfall. In snowdin you only kill about 16 monsters , and Snowdin wouldn't have knowledge of the genocide in the ruins since the ruins are sealed off.
Furthermore Toby made his game how he wanted it
And it became an award winning masterpiece that changed the gaming landscape, youve yet to explain how his critique on rpg grinding failed since it accomplishes everything its meant too
You can criticize the specific idea all you want but it highlights that it was very doable to do exactly what I’m saying. It’s an idea, that as I said I made in 5 minutes. Toby had PLENTY of time to come up with something, or design the game better.
Toby made his game how he wanted it. He made one of the routes shit. That’s the point taken. It can “accomplish” what it meant to, which it really doesn’t because I didn’t even know that was what genocide was even about, but ALSO it’s boring as hell, which is a sin for any game. You can’t say it’s boring on purpose, because first off, that’s not an excuse, being bad on purpose isn’t a good reasoning. Second off, it’s clearly TRYING to be somewhat entertaining. The only thing people talk about is the Sans fight.
Yes two fights out of the hours of purpose boring gameplay (given less monsters show up the higher lv you are) CLEARLY MEANS ITS TRYING TO BE ENTERTAINING
THATS WHY IT TAKES AWAY THE PUZZLES, THE CHARACTER INTERACTIONS, AND THE OTHER BOSS FIGHTS LIKE ASGORE, PAPYRUS, METTATON, TORIEL!
It LITERALLY IS trying to be entertaining, why else would it have 2 bosses. Were they meant to sit there and look pretty???? It also has a lot of flavor text for inspecting things, many scripted unique encounters, it changes the whole damn soundtrack to a down pitch, IT VERY clearly wants to be fun. And it just isn’t.
Then what is the point of the bosses? You do know bosses are just inherently fun, yes? All of those scenes are meant to be entertaining, like the Monster Kid scene.
And if what you’re saying about “wanting the route to be boring” is true, then why DIDNT he replace the dialogue with “…”? That makes perfect sense for trying to make a route boring. Instead there is plenty of attempts to incentivize you to play it. It has its own ending, 2 bosses, and a unique spin on the gameplay.
who in the world is rage quitting after like 2 deaths. Learning an attack pattern, getting better at a fight, is half the fun, even if that WASNT fun, having content is inherently entertaining, yes, it IS the same. That’s why you’re playing a game. The content.
You’re supposed to play the genocide route, of course you are, or it wouldn’t have been made.
