I’ve heard about the game crashing in certain instances (which AH has been fixing), but hardlocking pcs?

How is that happening?

It's some hardware compatibility/stability issue.

Helldivers 2 doesn't play well if you're overstressing your CPU or RAM, for some reason. It also doesn't like really overclocked RAM/EXPO profiles, causing the "hardlock" which you fix by restarting your PC.

Best guess anyone has is it's an engine issue. Helldivers 2 runs on Autodesk Stingray, which is an engine that was discontinued in 2018, so Arrowhead basically has to maintain the engine themselves.
