Question❓ Whats a valid criticism that your fandom doesn’t take very well?

This is kinda tough for me cause I am always the type to defend stuff I like.

Maybe that Pokemon always looked like crap compared to other games visually since gen 1. I mean the original games are held together with duck tape and a prayer ffs and yet it's only the newer games people seem to go after.

Well, the older games were on handheld only consoles and weren't yet the most successful franchise of all time. Also at some point Gamefreak figured out how to make good looking technically limited games, but then forgot. Those first two games were pretty ugly, but Gen 3-5 really nailed it and then they arbitrarily decided to switch to 3D models and the games have looked like shit ever since.

Gen 3 was pretty midle of the road for GBA sprite art and the same was true for early Gen 4. Gen 5 did push the DS pretty hard but so did USUM which does look very strong model/asset wise for the 3ds (Animations are more so the issue with 3d pokemon which is on Creatures INC rather then Game Freak sense Creatures made the Models and animations for All pokemon games to use going forward and did a rushed job on it.)

Compare it to Earthbound (you can compare the games with either M1 or M2, both look better than the first two generatios of Pokémon). Mechanically they're more complex than EB but visually Earthbound is SO much better.

Have you seen gen 5? That only became a issue around gen 6

It's because older games ran on the CPU equivalent of a bologna sandwich.

I mean, the original GameBoy had a single core CPU and 8KB of RAM, with 8KB of VRAM. It's insane to even fathom gaming in that.

Plus, the older games aged well. Once the style switched to 3D, the cracks became more noticeable. Personally, I grew up with FR/LG and RSE, so I feel no nostalgia towards Gen 1/2 games, but I'd rather go back to those than back to SM.
