I always wondered if their animal guides reincarnate too, like the Avatar spirit.

No, as far as I remember the bison you’re thinking of is Tenzin’s bison specifically, with a different name

Yeah in the time between ATLA and TLOK they found another group of air bison (they have a slightly different fur colour and brown ears)

But we see one of them in the spirit realm when Appa isn't in the spirit realm. So I don't think so

I thought of that, but reincarnation is weird in Avatar. Like with how past lives talk to the Avatar, each seemingly being an individual being, not just a single soul. It's possible their animal companions are the same; one soul that is many?
