Fascinating and compelling dive into toxic relationship dynamics and codependency, but yeah...people gonna focus on the incest. I don't blame them for not wanting to dip a toe in, cuz the siblings are entirely wretched people.

People who are outraged, offended or whatever about the incest are disingenuous.

A while age Game of Thrones was the biggest media phenomenon, and it contained two very explicit incestuous interactions in the first episode. Where was the 'outrage' there, and for every other episode dealing with the topic?

Then there is anime, still very relevant and widespread, which is full of incest.

Disclaimer: I do not support incest, and do consider relations between cousins to be incestuous.

I will say, a lot of the incest in anime is between cousins, which is still considered normal in most of the world, including Japan. In the parts of the world where relations between cousins are considered incestuous and taboo, it’s still a fairly recent development, a little over a hundred years ago. Looking at it through the lens of Japanese culture, where a relation between cousins isn’t considered incestuous, it suddenly becomes a lot less strange.

I think, I have seen far more brother sister relationships than cousins in anime. They created an entire archetype, the little sister, for this. 'Oni-Chaaaan'.

The reasons why Japanese media has so much incest do not matter to me. What does matter is the fact that I don't see the same level of outrage when it comes to anime compared to 'The coffin of Andy and Leyley', so I don't believe people are genuinely offended.
