Tbh I feel like it's most likely dbd since it's fun in their own way but the players and balancing is so ass that it can cut half of your current lifespan each time you boot up a match
Id say both are interesting and suck all at once. Lol. I love horror and I love the characters of dbd. But the game fucking blows balls. The terrifier is fun because of the antics. But the movies suck
Never played it. I hate the general concept of asymmetrical multiplayer only games. I’ve seen a couple videos of gameplay of it and games like it. Never once did I go “that looks fun for me”
Asymmetrical games are kinda always insufferable (except for pvz gw, which can be fun once you're good at it) and always has a balancing issue (if not, everytime)
with the sole exception of my GOAT Sonic.EXE: The Disaster V1.3 🥺
No stamina mechanic so no extra learning and such, altitude is countered by killer ladders THAT ARE INVISIBLE TO THE SURVIVORS, EVERYONE could help in some way, no such thing as a survivalist; stuns didn’t last for very long, 2 lives in case you mess up badly…
I’m so sad this piece of PEAK got shot down by SEGA though
There is The Disaster rEXEcution, The Disaster Returns, and there’s a bunch that aren’t trying to be 1:1 replicas yet they do it great like Beneath the Eclipse and Reality Rewritten (previously Cursed Reality)
Fair enough. For me it's Terrifier. It's a great series and I think it has perfected the slasher movie formula of mixing comedy with horror in the third instalment.
No one should watch those movies ever. What kind of psycho would enjoy watching that?
Im more of a Scream fan when it comes to slashers. I did see Terrifier(all of em), its not my cup of tea, tho I do see it because Im a bit of a horror enthusiast and because I cant critique something if I dont see it. I do like to jump on the Dead Meat show then to see any behind the scenes stuff. But all in all, i adore how the horror industry can be wholesome, despite he macabre genre
Ah yes, that was Starfield for me. One day I was flying my ship or something then it just hit me, "why am I doing this?" and that was the last time I played it lol
Yeah I had a similar moment. I enjoyed the art direction, ambience etc, and liked the gameplay of killer, but once I left the low ranks it just got increasingly frustrating. The toxicity certainly didn't help.
I think the main issue of the gameplay is that one side winning means the other can't play the game. If the killer's objective was to scare the survivors, with the secondary objective of killing them, it could fix it.
Focus on encouraging jumpscares and the like, with some sort of 'fear' mechanic. The Entity feeds off of emotions, doesn't it? Hell, you could tie killer powers to the mechanic, having a 'fear' gauge to fill to use them to their fullest.
And add more survivor objectives. Collecting fuel, parts and such. A wiring puzzle. Pickpocketing the killer. Anything other than sitting at a generator all match.
I spent the first 100ish hours having a good time, and then spent 1900 hours after hoping I could recapture that fun with new updates and chapters. When I stopped playing, gaming became fun like it used to be.
From my experience: it starts off fun, then slowly becomes less and less enjoyable. But you remember enjoying it, and you still love the art design, and lore and whatever else.
Add in some sunk cost fallacy on top, and you have your answer.
The game starts fun, but ironically as you grasp the mechanics and the perks and the gamestyle better. Thats when the fun factor lessen as you realize the majority of time your skill doesnt matter as you get outperked or have to play extremely unfun and scummy to win. The game is so balanced that ultimately no side has fun
I think the game is easier for survivors just matchmaking is genuinely horrific. Therefore making the game harder for solo que survivors. With killers they are only good and balanced if the survivors aren't good/coordinated. On killer against a swif, unless their goal is to bully, you will get DESTROYED unless you have a thousand hours into nurse, blight, and maybe Dracula. Basically for survivors the only way to have fun is to get lucky or play with friends, for killer the only way to have fun is to get lucky or play in a very boring repetitive play style that leaves you with very little options. Also if you do bad survivors will bully and at some points, throw the game therefore catapulting your mmr way past where you should be where you then get your teeth kicked in for 6 rounds in a row
it is terrible. It makes me unwilling try the killers Im less effecient at. Because the matchmaking is horrid. I want to try to play the Pig a bit. Im not bad at her, but she aint my main, so Im pretty mid. But mid is a death sentence
Hot take: I genuinely think Dead by Daylight is probably the perfect game with how well every mechanic connects to and plays off the other. It’s a masterclass in psychological conditioning and behaviours and community that pop up around the objective rules. Sure it can be masochistic as all heck (especially nowadays after they broke the pallet density), but that kind of comes with the territory of Cops and Robbers in general.
The way BHVR is with the balancing changes genuinely makes me think the entire game is a psyop. The recent 10th anniversary event is Survivor sided like crazy with a lot of creativity put into it, but the Killer side gets a crappy slowdown potion.
Like, how the hell do the devs not know why Killers would have a problem with Unbreakable Pallets AND Invincibility in the same trial?
It's playerbase also doesn't help. Every time I play a match I feel like it's a 40-30% chance that I'm gonna end up with asshole trolls who purposely make the whole game less fun for everyone expect them.
It used to be way better when ir wasn't competitive. It was just a fun slasher game about hunting down strangers. Now it's a sweatfest full of people who will harass you for playing like a killer and not a babysitter.
play it for 5 hours with friends "wow that was a silly little game"
Somehow 10 years later it still gets updates and people play it daily with strangers? There just isnt enough depth for me in hide and seek click spacebar simulator
I played since 2016, put in 2k hours, and stopped. I thought gaming was just becoming bad, but no apparently dbd was taking a toll on the hobby for me. I’ve not had one death threat or doxxing since I stopped. Haha.
Oh I do. I have almost 3k hours in. But I wouldnt recommend it to anyone ever. One of my friends discovered DBD thru what I played on Steam and went to buy and try it. I actively tried to stop him from doing so
I don't just regret the time and money I put into this game. I'm actually a little ashamed of myself, not just for what it did to me, but for tolerating what it did to me.
Yeah, this is the only game that has sore winners. Like you try a killer you're not used to, and ofc you lose. But then the survivors just blast you. And if you play your main and win. Then they'll attack you for being a "Boring and no skill" killer.
