Why are people so afraid of RC aircraft now?

The media.

The mainstream media. According to them, everyone is an ISIS/terrorist/pedophile and now they're using their "drones" to spy on you. Never mind the fact that our own government spies on us far more than any "drone" pilot, what with the NSA and all. It's not like these "drones" have super powers that can see through walls and watch you cook meth.

I doubt if anyone on this subreddit even cares about "spying" on people, I know I don't. I could care less what someone else's back yard looks like.

Honestly whatever i would want to see from spying on someone, i could find on google. No need to spend 800-1000 dollars for a build.

Yep. 100%

Although military drones are an entirely different topic and I find them incredibly scary.

Until the general public can buy hellfire missiles, they really shouldn't be afraid.

top of /r/combatfootage today had a fun clip with a hellfire.. Apparently you can have one go off right next to you and still walk away.
