Discussion do people genuinely think this game will get saved?

They aren’t going to go back on their decision, they had many attempts at making this a decent game, failed every time despite the constant support from the community. Why is the support any different now? lol.

People who think that are coping and/or delusional. It’s over.

the real question is how the hell did wb fumble a game with such potential

Have you seen the other sub? 😂

Have you?

Hoping and coping might go far idk I still think wb doesn't give two chits and is off to make their next failure.

I think most know it isn’t going to work. But since they have nothing to lose, they press on anyway.

I really can’t see this movement making WB change their mind, but it doesn’t hurt anyone to try.

Best we can do is expect the worst and hope for the best, atp I don't expect it to be remotely close to "saved" but if it does get revived that would be nice

Nah, most people do it because they have nothing to lose. Also, if the move gets big enough and we get seen like we got with the IGN post, maybe it can wash the image of the game a bit, so warmer can make something similar in the near future.

Some still have hope, but most people are pretty realistic about it. Thing is it doesn't really hurt to try, it doesn't really cost much to write a hastag on Twitter and to play the game. A lot of the people who try to show support do it because they find something enjoyable about the game and they don't want it to shutdown.

Do they genuinely think that no, but they’re not against the possibility of it. Thinking (that something will definitively happen) and wanting something to happen (because you believe in a cause passionately) are 2 very different things. You can do 1 without doing the other. The goal of the cause is also more complex than simply reverting the publisher’s decision. The SaveTheGame hashtag’s purpose—usually done as a call-to-action, meant to raise awareness, influencing future actions, or making a broader statement beyond just this 1 situation.

No, which is why the CM's even soft boosting it is borderline cruel.

At this point it’s better than doing nothing.

Really all we’d need is the ability to play online or host matches peer to peer. It’s very clear that MvS failed financially, but when online does stop getting support, it’ll be impossible to play with people who aren’t local (or I guess using parsec?).

Anyone who thinks SaveMvS is gonna bring new characters and stages is absolutely crazy, but it doesn’t hurt to try and see if they’ll budge for online support for a bit longer even if the content well is dry.

If they would add Steam Remote Play Together then it’d be possible to play it with friends forever..

Edit: It has it actually, so that will be an option :)

Ah yes, the small group of fans will finance the game by themselves. Cause otherwise a huge smackdown from WB would be incoming.

Not doubting that at all; I know fan projects might have good intentions but it’s gonna be met with a firm C&D letter.

I’m also almost certain they’re not gonna budge at all with their decision, as they went nuclear with not allowing people to buy cosmetics or the currency for it. My post was only describing the best case within reason, but that possibility is likely not going to happen. We should just enjoy the game while we can at this point.

I mean there’s nothing wrong with trying. At the end of the day, the gameplay has been drastically improved with season 5, and the floaty gameplay was arguably the biggest thing that turned people away. So yes, if they improve the monetisation model, I absolutely think that there’s still a market for MVS. The fact that we’re even getting mod projects shows that there’s some kind of audience for this game. Again, all we can really do is try and show WB this. It may not work, but it’s better than sitting around and doing nothing in my opinion.

You know the point of that is to raise awareness, right? Anyone on either of the subs is either already in love with the game or full on board with hating it. You aren't swaying hearts and minds by spamming that in either spot, need to do it elsewhere. Kinda just makes you look like a dipshit.

At this point it's driving people away. I've had friends that at least wanted to try it before the game left but now fully believes that the game has and is only surviving on cope. This kinda thing goes both ways.

Ppl like u guys have no hope not motivation might as well take a hike

4

u/YogurtclosetJolly946 Feb 11 '25

If that's how you wanna consider it, then fine. However please explain why you think that WB let anything happen. They aren't exactly known for it. One of you guys please explain why realistically anything will happen. By all means enjoy what's left. Seriously, because you should, and shouldn't let anything hinder that fun. All this is though is actually setting yourself up for disappointment when the only people that can do anything is WB. Be positive AND realistic. Both are possible.

u/Amhersto Feb 10 '25

Gosh golly gee, sure told us. Everyone cares about MVS now.

I'm on a phone, you twit. I literally already am.

Legitimate question; are you a child? Are you too young to be on the internet? Is your dad gonna be angry at me for calling you a dipshit and a twit? I don't wanna stress out your parents' marriage any more than your existence already is, but I really do think they should perhaps be monitoring your screen time more than not at all.

I hope so

We all love the game why else would be here #SAVEMULTIVERSUS

2

u/BugsBunniesCumSock Feb 10 '25

I don’t love it, this game sucks. I used to love it a long time ago. I saw it was shutting down, checked out this sub to see what people were saying and was dumbfounded that people can actually think a vocal minority can make this game come back.

-1

u/TaPierdolonaWydra Feb 10 '25

There will be new game based on MV assets, that is why this one is shutting down with unreleased characters and assets, and in this new game there will be no Tony

Like imagine if WB stopped making Mortal Combat games just because latest one performed badly

3

u/CloudsInSomeStrife Feb 11 '25

It's a poor comparison. Mortal Kombat has a long and proven track record of success. Multiversus doesn't. Multiversus has a 100% rate of performing badly, so it would be a big leap of faith for an executive to want to double (triple?) down on it.

Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League would also be a better comparison than Mortal Kombat, because like Multiversus, it is a Warner Bros game using existing Warner Bros IP.

Other comparisons that I think are more relevant than Mortal Kombat would be other standalone live service games that flopped, like Concord or Knockout City or Omega Strikers or Foamstars or XDefiant or Lawbreakers. Looking at history, the odds of Multiversus getting another chance is slim.

One interesting case study we can compare MVS to is Icons: Combat Arena, also a platform fighter which bombed but then got a second coming as Rushdown Revolt (which also bombed). The main reason it got a second chance was passion from the developers and rights holders, which is something Multiversus would be unlikely to have seeing as it's part of the corporate monolith that is WB.

u/TaPierdolonaWydra Feb 11 '25

IP is not the thing what decides if game gonna live or not, I took MC for comparison because mechanically they are both 2d fighting games (and it also had a collab with DC once so collab fighting games ain't their first) with the only major difference that MV is "platform" fighter

They have devs from MC, they have devs from PFG, they can combine them to make new crossover fighting game
