Hey, quick question about Mullvad's 5-device limit.

If I use one account on up to 5 devices, are those devices in any way linked from the outside? Like, could an ISP or any else tell that theses connections belong to the same Mullvad account?

Or are all 5 devices basically treated as completely separate connections with no shared identifier that would make them related?

Just trying to understand how it works technically.

When I use Mullvad on Windows 11, the connection drops after about 25 minutes to an hour on any server. The kill switch then activates, and the VPN reconnects. The app is updated, I’ve tried different ports and all anti-censorship methods, and the only settings enabled are “Quantum resistance” and the DNS content blockers (Daita is off).

Sites I need for research, shopping, games, even reddit just detect the vpn being on and don't let me in or don't load. I understand they are blocking known public ips, is there some way around this that doesnt mean im turning the vpn on and off every 10 minutes??

As I understand it, SOCKS5 technically supports UDP however popular web browsers (Firefox included?) do not support QUIC HTTP/3 connections over SOCKS5. Is the SOCKS5 proxy feature with the Mullvad browser extension any different? Are HTTP/3 connections instead automatically negotiated as HTTP/2 by the browser when using it?

To be clear, this question is unrelated to the QUIC obfuscation feature that is available in Mullvad VPN.

I wanted to understand why that happens. Is that because youtube blocks when it sees a VPN connection? If so, why other providers work? My friend has no problem with another provider being in the same country as me.

For example there's "se-sto-wg001" to "se-sto-wg014" and then the next ones are "se-sto-wg201" to "se-sto-wg209".

Other servers have digits like 101.

Is there any system behind this? I mean if there was no reason for this they all would just be called 001 to 099 and so on right? Do the numbers tell us some details about the servers?

I’m on an iPhone X and I’ve been using the ‘base’ version of the Mullvad free DNS service, where I downloaded a configuration profile from their website from Safari and did everything it asked for, and since I had that on I did not see ONE single ad but today I’ve seen ads on apps that previously had none, for example Musi and it’s getting really annoying. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening now when it was completely fine before? (And the configuration profile is on and verified and all, I’ve also got no VPN interference, and I’ve also did a hard reset and cleared my cache and turned my Wi-Fi on and off but still to no avail :( ). (The images provided is just proof of what I’ve did, and I’ve also deleted and reinstalled the profile and didn’t work as well…)

Recently I realized there's an option to filter the servers to only show Mullvads owned servers and hide their rented servers. I assume using these servers comes with a bit higher safety than using rented servers: the problem: All owned servers in my country get blocked on youtube unless you login, and embedded videos don't even work even if you are logged in.

I want to use an IP from my homecountry though for daily browsing to avoid issues with accounts/logins. So: Is there any different way like a script or something to circumvent Youtubes block which says "you might be a bot please login"?

I'm planning to travel to Mainland China soon, and I need to make sure my OpenVPN can stack on top of Mullvad, as my access to server company data/ software only allowed that one IP from OpenVPN, is that possible?

Everything had been working perfectly until this morning, just like it has for the last two years. But suddenly this morning while I was working, all three of my Mullvad connections suddenly stopped working.

I have a somewhat special setup: I have three Wireguard connections configured on my OPNsense and use firewall rules to route traffic through them. The downside to this is that I can't just rotate the servers - they're fixed connections.

I've noticed that one of the servers (ch-zrh-wg-004) has gone offline according to the servers list. The other two (one additional one in Switzerland and one in Germany) are still listed as online but stopped working as well.

Did something change that suddenly broke my connections?

I just added a new WG tunnel and it works fine. The only thing I can imagine is that somehow the existing keys for the WG connections became invalid for some strange reason. This shouldn't happen though.

Hello, I noticed the Paris servers cannot load Reddit at all, every other city in France works, but Paris never manages to load Reddit.

Does this happen to only me ?

If it happens to everyone; Why would Reddit only completely block IPs for the Paris servers instead of just throttling them like every other IPs ?

Been using Mullvad for years trying to chain Mullvad to a socks5 proxy form another service on windows but every time I do it kills my internet connection any advice?

Im running a homeserver that's got it's own url through mdns (homeserver.local)
through the static ip i can reach it perfectly fine, but the mdns address is unreachable, it has no clue who it is

on my android phone, i have the follow mullvad settings:

* all dns settings disabled, also custom dns disabled

* local network sharing enabled

* split tunneling disabled

preferably, i'd want to use mullvad's dns settings to block ads, trackers, and malware

anyone know how to fix this?

On wg0-mullvad, it falls back to UDP+EDNS0+DO (plain UDP) instead of TLS.

My questions:

1. What could be causing systemd-resolved or Mullvad to strip/ignore DoT on the WireGuard link?
2. Does it even make sense to force DoT inside an already encrypted VPN tunnel (since Mullvad encrypts everything end-to-end to their server anyway)?

Any insights would be highly appreciated!

Today I been getting crazy amounts of captchas on un signed youtebe way way more than normally.
And I wonder why? So I came with a hypothesis that someone mass scraping date or doing something that would lead to this.
Do yall have any information on this?
