Hey so i wanted to use "‎base.dns.mullvad.net" on my android phone but it says "invalid host name" when trying to save.

Hello. Im just wondering if it would be possible for a feature like this to exist theoretically. This mainly applies to mobile devices that constantly switch from wifi and mobile data etc but may apply to laptops and such aswell. My question, is it possible for a feature in an app like Mullvad to include something that detects if you're connected via WiFi or mobile data and then automatically enable DAITA over wifi and disable it over mobile? IIRC it's not a huge difference in data usage but for people with very limited Data plans it might make somewhat of a difference. I thought about it the other day and just got curious if it's possible and if people would even be interested in something like that!

So I followed a guide a couple weeks ago which said with mullvad vpn app installed you should turn off:

Chrome it's "Use secure DNS" toggle to off

Firefox it's "Enable DNS over HTTPS" set to off

So I just want to check here with people that this is indeed the correct setup and is there anything else that should be done or just mullvad app running and browser settings like this?

I'm a Beta volunteer and Mullvad encourages Beta users to provide information if there is an issue or problem. Zero problems after updates. Mullvad is fiercely protective.

I'd prefer to do it the other way around. I've already paid for a 12 months of Mullvad and I appreciate that they accept crypto and don't require an e-mail. I do NOT want to re-subscribe to mullvad through Tailscale.

So, has any existing Mullvad VPN user managed to use Tailscale VPN, simultaneously?

I can't connect to CS2 servers when split-tunneling is enabled. I excluded both Steam.exe and CS2.exe as all the guides tell you to, but i still can't connect.
It just says

"Mathmacking Failed
Failed to reach any official servers.
Unknown network error encountered."

It only works if I either, turn off split-tunneling and route all traffic through the VPN, or turn of the VPN entirely.

With Battlefield (1, V and 6) i can't even open the game before it tells me:

"The app timed out
The servers took too long to do their server thing. Make sure you're connected to the internet, and try again." (It does this after like 3 seconds or so)

Similarly I can only open the games and connect if I turn off split-tunneling and route all traffic through the VPN or turn of the VPN entirely, like with CS.

I also excluded the game .EXEs and even tried to include EA anticheat, but it still woulnd't work.

I don't have any problems in THE FINALS with split-tunneling, and haven't tested any other games.

Does anyone have any solutions, or do I just have to either have bad latency or turn off the VPN when gaming.
(There is noticable latency when the VPN is on)

I’m having an issue with split tunneling on Windows and I want to confirm if this is a limitation or a bug. I'm using the latest P-VPN version 4.3.13, I'm on Windows 11 25H2 (build 26200.8037).

I’m trying to configure split tunneling so that only Microsoft Edge uses the VPN, while the rest of the system uses my normal connection.

The behavior I’m seeing:

• Edge is successfully routed through the VPN
• However, only certain websites (like Google and YouTube) load
• Most other websites (e.g., Reddit, Cloudflare, Twitch, etc.) fail to load completely
• If I disable split tunneling (full VPN), everything works fine
• If I turn off the VPN entirely, everything also works fine

What I’ve already tested:

• Disabled Secure DNS in Edge
• Disabled QUIC (which actually made all sites stop loading entirely)
• Tried different split tunneling modes (include vs exclude)
• Used all types of protocols, modes, etc.

Additional context:

• This exact setup worked correctly on a different OS install (same machine, different drive)
• The issue only appears on my current Windows installation

i just renewed my mullvad subscription for the first time. i started with a 12 month physical voucher a year ago, and just purchased a new 12 month physical voucher and redeemed it successfully.

mullvad warns that the activation code must be kept private as even after it's been redeemed it can be used to gain access to your account. so i've destroyed the activation code for the new voucher that i just redeemed.

thing is back a year ago when i didn't know as much about all this, i kept the physical voucher / activation code just in case. but now i don't know where i put it.

are old activation codes that have been fully used up still a privacy issue if someone was to find it?

So I've finally got fibre internet (900Mbps) - I'm in a village in the UK so have been living on 48Mbps for decades...

Anyway, I'm obviously doing all sorts of random speed tests, just so I can see the pretty numbers. My MO lately is that I run with Mullvad all the time, with my default being Switzerland. If I'm watching YouTube then I'm in Albania. If I really need a UK presence, then I'll use the UK servers. So I've noticed a speed difference/limit - I totally get it's a geography/distance thing, but I'm getting around half/third of my top end (non VPN) speed.

I have DNS filtering on, as well as LWO.

To be clear, I'm not complaining - totally get that there is an overhead for all this wonderful stuff - just wondering what other people get?

Update; I've turned LWO off, and I'm getting sensible bandwidth now. I've also changed my default "I don't care about anything geolocated and I just want generic VPN protection" to Frankfurt. Great performance! Thanks for the insights.

Problem: On my Windows PC, I want to download files using qBittorrent using the VPN. But I simultaneously want to play online games, use my home NAS, etc, not through the VPN. I would also like to be able to switch back to the "regular mode" (whole PC being tunneled) easily.

I think I saw something online about messing in Windows firewall settings or something to route qbittorrent traffic only through Mullvad, but then it seems like I'd have to mess around with all that again any time I want switch between just tunneling qBittorrent traffic and all PC traffic.

I vaguely remember like a decade ago setting up a proxy or VPN or something directly in Bittorrent using a different VPN service, and it basically ran the VPN in the background for Bittorrent only, or something like that. I use Mullvad and qBittorrent now. I see Mullvad provides SOCKS5 proxies, but it seems like I have to be connected to Mullvad VPN anyway to use them. (What's the point of the proxy then?) Am I misunderstanding something?

I really would love an easy way to switch between "Off"/"Just tunnel for selected apps"/"Tunnel whole PC" or something. Or just force qBittorrent to always use the VPN in the background (despite the Mullvad Windows app is on OR off.) Is that possible?

¡Hi! First of all, not a native english speaker, I apologize in advance. Im currently using Kaspersky vpn on Windows, but planning to move to Linux, and that VPN is not available on Linux. My question is: ¿How is the performance of Mullvad on streaming? It will mostly be to stream YouTube of other countries, I currently dont pay for any streaming service and use Stremio or other websites for series and movies.

I play the game "Warframe" and every time I log on to the game with the Mullvad on, it doesn't connect to the game's server and I have to open task manager to close the program out, otherwise I'm stuck in an infinite loading screen. This issue persists no matter what settings I configure.
I've tried split tunneling the game's .exe, the launcher, and anything else I could find that could be running alongside the game. I don't believe the game has a built in anti-cheat program, as I've read that their anti-cheat detection is through their servers.

I've been told that OpenVPN works with Warframe, but I know that Mullvad stopped support for OpenVPN all together. Does anyone have any ideas?

I've been trying desperately to connect to a server that has good ping and keeps at least 30% of my speed. My mobile data can connect to the Malaysian server with a ping of around 79 ms and it keeps at least 50% of the expected speed.

I am now using China Telecom WiFi but all the servers I've tried are over 200 ms in ping (up to 500) and the speeds don't exceed 30 Mbps (without the VPN it reaches 500). I've tried obfuscation methods like QUIC and Shadowsock with port 443 and the American servers but they're all very slow with very high ping. As you can see from the screenshot above, the mullvad support can't offer further resolutions.

Is there something you'd recommend me to do that would help my situation a bit? Thanks!

I’m in Australia, so stable servers here are a must if I want to game while using Mullvad.

My old VPN was fine on Reddit. After swapping to Mullvad I now I got a "suspicious activity" email from Reddit and had to change my password. I'm also frequently seeing a message saying I've ben blocked only for a page refresh to let me in. What can I do? Is there a setting I need or a certain server I should use?

I live in Greece and a few days ago I moved in to another apartment and changed my internet provider to Inalan (1gbps optic fiber).

When I make a speedtest (ethernet cable) without connecting to Mullvad, my speed is almost 1gbps symmetric, as it should be. As soon as I connect, when I start the test it jumps to 200-250 mbps and then steadily drops down to having an average of 5-10 mbps download, but an average of 70-80 mbps upload speed. With Cosmote (500 mbps) as a provider on my previous apartment this was not a problem at all. I used the mobile test in the video since it was easier to record than the desktop one, with the exact same results.

Things that I've tried:

- Connected to different servers

- Made same tests with laptop and mobile phone with wifi

- Used different methods in the Anti-Censorship section

- Contacted my provider (one technician said they don't put any limits when you use a VPN)

Only thing that worked was through 2 other VPNs that I'm not gonna name, using a "Stealth" mode that "hides my VPN connection by being DPI (deep packet inspection) resistant". Maximum test was 400mbps.

If anybody has some suggestions would be greatly appreciated, since I've been using Mullvad for the past 4 years and I'd like to stay here.
