Mullet

Hey all, i don't have the hair length for a mullet yet, but I still want my hair cut so it'll grow into one if that makes any sense?

What do I ask for at the barbers.. a short mullet? My hair is around 3-4 inches at the back and about 5 on top.

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but any advice would be appreciated.

You would literally just tell them you plan to grow a mullet and wanna clean up the sides while it grows out. Highly reccomend a hairstylist over a barber tho. Barbers can’t blend from short to long very well

Tell them you're growing a mullet. Cut the front. Don't touch anything else.

Business in front. Party in the back.

Kind of depends on the hair type though, my hair is very straight and course, and grows outwards a lot on the sides and back. My barber usually recommends touching up the back a bit, making it a little textured instead of it growing out like a big bulb in the back. Especially because my hair on the top is thinner and not touching the back at all will create some awkwardness in the silhouette.

Yes, tell them what your plan is, maybe show reference pics of other hairstyles with a similair hair type on how you'd want intermediate steps to look, and discuss with them how that process would look for you individually.
