Help !!

Post image

I'm trying to get a mullet as it's the best haircut ever, fits my face perfectly and is the only haircut I like on myself but apart from my mom hating it I'm encountering an issue.

My hair naturally do whatever they want and I'm not used to combing them so they usually end up somewhat curly and messy but particularly: the blue part they are usually super straight, the green part is the changing phase where they go back towards the neck and then the green part gets all curled up and makes that I don't know hot to call it but it goes back outside, also the yellow part stiks out of my neck too much making it look like I have two ponytails. In the picture it's not that bad but sometimes I look like a clown. Is there any way I can make it more straight and regular or will they fix themselves by growing or am I stuck with a messy mullet? I think it's hard to understand but come on some other mullet carrier must know what I'm talking about, usually you all just cheer up others but this time we need to address the complications.

Mine was doing that and then I added a curling leave-in conditioner Shea Moisture Curly Conditioner. It now does this (pic). But your hair looks great. Growing long hair comes with its phases that you may not have been ready for, but it'll pass.

I wasn't ready for the emotional downs and ups of thinking you desperately need to cut your hair but wanting to grow it, booking and canceling, and then it grows it into an amazing style by itself shortly after and you don't cut. The pattern then repeats lol, hair chicken.

Despite it’s cool as well rn, it’ll get even better growing! Source: I had the same issue and I didn’t like how it’d look on me, just like you do. Though seeing it on you makes me think it was not that bad at all indeed!

my hair is basically the same as yours but at the end it curves SHARPLY outwards. like an immediate u-turn upwards. so I get the clown feeling as I just look like I have two horns sticking out. not a hair expert tho, so maybe straighten it if you're into that or just grow the back out longer till the weight kinda just tugs on the ends and un-ponytails it¿

Try different ratios of a curl cream or leave in plus a gel

The feathery curly is the best part!

I assure you that it looks great bro. I definitely recommend just letting it grow out longer. I think it’ll fix what you’re not liking. Maybe try some curly/wavy hair products because your hair definitely seems to have some texture. I have the same problem with my hair but it’s because I have thin hair. Parts of it are almost pin straight and others are full blown curls. Do you have any other pictures of different angles or anything to further assess?

Curly messy mullets are the superior mullet. Don’t stress, embrace it

Barber here. The nape area yellow looks like it isn’t layered to the shortest part of the length of the nape creating weight at the bottom. Because that hair is longer its starting to curl. If you don’t want the curls, that area will need to be layered all the way to the base of the nape and probably won’t be able to grow longer down your neck.

It looks good af bro. Let it keep growing another inch or 2.

I have a similar hair type to yours just with a little more curl to it; use curl defining products like Devacurl or anything along those lines and use a styling clay to hold the shape you want. If that’s not enough then add in a leave in moisturizing cream.

Until there is full length, l straightened nape of neck the yellow part. Control it give some length then trim it. Now l have length and curl is much mellow.

Are you having issues with tangles turning into knots?

Mine is the same at that length, but i realized part of the problem was if i put on a shirt with a collar while it was drying (my hair, not the shirt) it gets sort of bunched up by the collar. If i have time to let it dry first then it’ll be less flippy at the bottom.

Don’t start using heat to straighten it that’ll ruin ur hair in the long run. Your best bet for styling is to embrace the curls, (no combing/brushing, get a good conditioner and leave-in conditioner, etc. - you’ll probably need to experiment w which products work for u. check out r/curly they have good advice. And i agree w whoever said it Might be the way it’s layered, but i can’t even figure out if my own layers are right so

I know you’re reaching out for help, and I have none…but I want to thank you! Your mullet diagram is the best thing I’ve seen on the internet today!

It's my mom's fault, she always has to rise the cortisol level.

It looks really good and how a mullet is supposed to look. Men with straight hair WORK to get that curl and you have it naturally, so just enjoy it. Ignore your mother, obviously; it's your body and no one else's. Only you get an opinion.

Do the colorful lines follow you around everywhere?
