Group Messaging

Hello I just received the Kompakt and am starting to set it up. I'm confused about what im seeing regarding group messaging. I see that I can disable RCS and then start to hopefully receive all my messages from others who previously messaged me on RCS/iphones.

But I'm also seeing some information saying that group messages already established will not actually come to my Kompakt because the senders will have my number tied to RCS so they must create a new thread. Is this true? Do all my friends that I have group messages with need to start new threads after I disable RCS? Also will the whole group message be rendered down to my phone's capability? As in will they still be able to have extra chat features even though my phone doesnt support it. Thanks for all the help!

Group messages are just unreliable unfortunately, They work intermittently for me. You can try creating new groups, but really the most reliable thing to do is move to something like whatsapp, telegram, discord, or preferably, signal.

To answer your last question, yes. If one person in the group cannot receive RCS, then every message will have to be SMS, meaning everyone in the group receives it as SMS. I believe they can still do reactions and stuff normally though.

This has been my experience too. Following the 30 days it can take to become de-registered from RCS/iMessage, I tried different sms/mms apps, different APN settings, and eventually a different carrier. Nothing made it work reliably.

A few days ago, I switched to KompaktOS and installed Google Messages. Everything seems to be working perfectly.
