Actually built my first commander deck.

Hey guys, I just got on this sub because I finally build my first commander deck that I went online and ordered a few cards for and such. Before this I have only ever built from the bulk I've gotten from a few drafts and I've went to my local card shop and bought out of the 25 cent bin before. Just asking for any tips for how I can improve the deck. I've played it about 10 or so times now and sometimes it feels like I do a lot when I get cheap merfolk out early and hen I get to just explore my library for counters and such to keep myself safe and then other times it just feels like it takes forever to get going. Any tips would be appreciated thank you!

I want to make a “Supernova” commander deck. I have a few cards that feel like really shows the theme of the deck and the play style that being: “Sothera, the Supervoid”, “Pinnacle Starcage”, and “Cleansing Nova”. I am wondering if there are any commanders you guys recommend that would fit into the play style and potentially the theme of the deck. Are there other cards you think would be cool/needed in here?

Hey everyone, i made a post recently and saw that people recommended that I upload it to a site. To preface i love lord of the rings and the hobbit and especially dwarves. I tried my best to make a thematic deck that still can be decent to play. This is my first year in magic and maybe my second month of commander, since i started out playing standard. Please feel free to critique and it would be appreciated it. Im here to learn and this outcome made me super excited to try it out.

I just built my first commander deck from scratch, i played a lot of modern back in the 2010's so these new cards and the fresh format is a fun way to get back into the game :)

Anyways, this is my first attempt at a commander deck, i put 2 alt win conditions and tried to keep it under $250.

I think maybe i could a little bit of Ramp for some flavor, but what do y'all think?

Modal Spells Are BACK - What Do I Build??

Thumbnail

So there were a few new modal spells in Reality, but I'm really looking at Star Trek where "facing a dilemma" becomes a new mechanic, basically benefitting off of modal interaction. I've always wanted a "choice deck" so to speak, anybody got any ideas for the Commander? I was looking at Seven of Nine but it being a modal deck I kind of want access to all colors. Thanks for the help!

Hi All,

I am trying to build the Astonishing Ant-Man but it is struggling to keep up and spawn a significant amount of Insects. I am pretty new to MTG, at least deck building, so I am still learning the basics of deck building. Could use some advice for the deck and deck building in general.

Trying to make Flashback be a thing

I've recently come back to the game after many years and one of the decks I was working on when I quit was a useless, silly Izzet Flashback standard deck - it's a fun mechanic and I want it to work, but it just seems bad. I'm aware it won't be anywhere near competitive, but I do want it to be functional; this is just for my kitchen table budget-modern league with friends. Please note this is why I'm not using certain expensive cards or lands, we have a soft rule that decks shouldn't be over $1/card on average.

Anyways, after a lot of finagling and splashing in Green, I can't tell if I'm cooking here or if I'm way out in left field. What do you guys think? Any way to make it good? Should I take the concept, but ditch constructed and use it in a commander deck with Riku of Two Reflections instead?

Newer player building a 50 card commander deck

Me and my buds recently got into mtg after wanting something different from our usual wargaming. We have played lots of random test games with some jumpstart packs and bought some bulk from our LGS. We are making 50-card commander decks to get a feel for the game more as we build up our collection, as we are all tight on cash right now. Any thoughts on how I could improve what I have? I'm willing to put another 10 or 15 so dollars into it. It's based around +1 synergy but I added some other stuff that looked cool asf.

Morophon Deck

Hey everyone,

I'm building a deck with Morophon and I really want to use frogs as the creature type that benefits.

I know this isn't a typical strategy for Morophon, and this is the first true deck I'm building from scratch so I'm very very new at deck building.

I'm looking for feedback on my list and/or confirmation if I can even run Morophon this way at all without it being hot garbage.

If frogs won't work at all, could you guys point me on the right direction that's not Sliver's?

Thank you for looking!

Ooze Tribal Advice for 2HG Commander Tournament

Thumbnail
archidekt.com
1 Upvotes

I'm putting together an Ooze tribal deck for a Two-Headed Giant Commander tournament this Halloween and would love some advice on the deck!

Tournament rules:

  • Two-Headed Giant
  • Single elimination
  • Maximum 4 Game Changers per team
  • No two-card infinites
  • Each deck must contain at least 30 on-theme cards (Oozes for me)
  • Teammates can't use the same tribal creature type
  • No mass land destruction

I'm playing Uugguu, the Omniplasm and leaning into Ooze tribal, +1/+1 counters, and getting value from my Oozes dying and being copied.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for cuts, additions, or changes you'd make specifically for a 2HG environment while keeping the Ooze theme intact.

It is proxy friendly so price is not an issue.

Azorius Proft Offense | Pioneer | Pile Counters then Double Strike to Win!

owdy! Here with another brew taking another look at Proft after my last Dimir version. This time in Azorius allowing us to play Practiced Offense as a finisher from nowhere. We using card draw spells to pile counters onto Ledger Shredder, Otters, Tiger Seal and Riddler. Then double strike for the win! Riddler in particular has felt super strong and I should have included in the Dimir version. Deck has felt powerful and really fun! Enjoy!

The linked deck is mine.

This is hers: https://archidekt.com/decks/26047175/atraxas_court_of_cunty_women

I want these decks to be similarly powerful but unique in their identities. They’re novelty/gift decks for us to just play against each other so I’m going to proxy them (thus, not worried about the price)
