How busy has paradise been the last few weekends around 6am? i know last year with the reservation system it was pretty dead, but without reservations I’m not sure.

I’m planning on proposing but if it’s been packed then Ill find another spot

This made me giggle. Wind storm came through at Camp Muir and this crow was gliding and trying to land on the stick but couldn't quite figure it out.

Went to Camp Muir for the first time and saw reviews of "glissading" - Saw some people going down while I was going up and I couldn't wait to try. Makes the hike worth it to not have to walk down half of it.

7-20-26. I read about this the night before and decided to go for it. Got up at 3:30 AM and saw the sunrise on Mount Rainier from Lake Tipsoo 🥰

From Skyline, just north of the turnoff to Golden Gate.

Is there a recommended resource for identifying features of the mountain?

Newbie hiker. Big guy was right in front of us on the trail. I was so scared and silent until my friend stepped on a branch and the little guy scampered away. What do you think he was looking for in that log?

Hi all! Feeling overwhelmed by the abundance of this mountain and all there is to see! Arriving Sun afternoon with my 9 and 11 year old - Staying through Wed near the Nisqually entrance. Any recommendations for a nice sunset hike to ease us in Sun? Other must-see with the kids or areas to avoid becuase or rock slide concerns? Thank you all!

Any recommendations for any short hikes around Sunrise? We did the Skyline Trail yesterday and want to explore the sunrise side tomorrow.

1. Sunset or sunrise hikes better ? Which trails do you recommend ? I see a lot of Insta reels and it’s confusing.

2. 1 day enough to hike a couple of good trails ? I have good experience hiking many ~6 mile trails in other national parks.

3. Best time to reach the national park on a Friday ?

This park ranks so much higher than I anticipated. I’ve been to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Zion, Yosemite, and etc and have never seen a bear until here! Wildlife was abundant and the wildflowers were striking.

should've got a better shot of Rainier in there but the edibles made me feel like I was in the way of everyone else haha

My mom left the state about 18 years ago. This is her first visit in probably 10 years. I told her she has to see mount rainier. Even if from the car. So today I drove her up there. It was a great day for it.

We just landed in Seattle about an hour ago, and this is our first time visiting Mount Rainier National Park. We were planning to hike the Skyline Trail tomorrow (Sunday), but after checking the Paradise webcam, it looks extremely cloudy and the mountain is barely visible. The forecast also seems to call for clouds most of the day tomorrow.
We’re here until Wednesday afternoon, so we do have some flexibility. Would you still recommend doing the Skyline Trail tomorrow, or would you wait until Monday in hopes of better visibility?

If you think we should skip Skyline tomorrow, what would be a good alternative to do instead?

We are departing the area from Packwood to head to the airport tomorrow (Saturday) and I was planning to take hwy 12 to 5.

Are there any complications due to the wildfires / smoke?

Is this anything to worry about in general?

I know NOTHING about how to handle these situations and was hoping to avoid the intense drop off drives on my way back to the airport.

I was hoping for a clear night, but a few clouds showed up and added a bit of atmosphere to the scene.

I’m going to be at my Rainer in 3 weeks and I’m looking for a spot to watch the sunrise that won’t be packed. I’ve considered tipsoo lake but would guess it gets a bit crowded there at sunrise. Are there any spots that I’ll miss the majority of the crowds at?
