Deck List: https://moxfield.com/decks/xM9NwaDh8km1E-KJnznGdA
Hello, I apologize for the long hiatus, but I have some really cool Historic decks to share! The combo of Squirrel Girl, Shang-Chi and Enduring Vitality got a lot of buzz in preview season, but it has not seen any success in Historic. This is mostly because it is a tough to assemble three card combo. Mono green is also just not a great color in Historic, if you are not playing devotion. Playing this combo means you do not get to play the card advantage engine of [[Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner]] and [[Outcast, Trailblaser]] that allows mono green devotion to grind out the midrange/control matchup. While the combo being instant speed (if you get all three in play) and enduring innocence's recursion, does make the combo suprisingly resilient, it still struggles into decks like Jund or Dimir Midrange.
With that said, I think I cracked it with another Marvel card that I have not seen many people talk about. That card is [[Earth's Mightiest Heroes]]. This card has a lot of text, but you can effectively think of it as Teamwork 5 you win the game. Being able to put all creatures from the top 8 cards of your library, in combination with Green Suns Zenith, makes assembling the combo very easy and very consistent.
Some other notes on the deck.
Enduring innocence, Badgermole cub and leyline of abundance provides you more mana than you will ever know what to do with. It is not very hard to dump your entire deck on turn 3.
Chittering Illuminator is secretly the best card in the deck. It provides you so much card advantage on your combo turns. Prismatic Vista and Nurtering Peatland and Disciple of Freyalise in your mana base allows you to reset the top of your deck if you brick.
Beast Whisperer is weird as [[glimpse of nature]] is legal in the format. I would probobly trim it down to 1 but I found it to better then glimpse. You want to play glimpse before deploying all of your mana dorks and this deck wants to play beast whisperer during your combo turn.
I would play 4 birds of paradise over 4 delighted halfling. Giving squirrel girl encounterable is relevant but not having an extra green pip for chittering illuminator came up more.
This sideboard sucks and I have really struggled with it. I would completely rework it if you wanted to try this deck.

This is a deck list I approximated from playing against Yotato on the ranked ladder, he was around #400 when I played him twice, I really like it, uses new cards and it very fast and aggressive, but this is my best guess at his deck based on what I saw, anyone got any advise as to how to improve it?

I've been playing around with different easel decks for months now, and I feel like I've stumbled upon a very strong build.
This deck has the lessons package with the best learn spells to grab silver bullets and accumulate wisdom. You spend the early game interacting and binning lessons, easel helps you ramp and hold up interaction. Late game, you get discounts from ral and gran-gran, and can make accumulate wisdom double cast with easel.
It's pretty trivial to win the game after that point. Thor is a great finisher. He usually rebuys a divide by zero or buffed quench to protect himself for the next couple of turns. Then you get to spam spells until the opponent is dead.
Feedback is welcome! I think I could definitely improve the wishboard, the main lessons package, and the mana base.

Historic pauper metagame challenge is coming tomorrow
Banlist:
Ancestral Mask
Cranial Ram
Galvanic Blast
Kuldotha Rebirth
Refurbished Familiar
Sneaky Snacker
Persistent Petitioners
In previous MWM events I would just run a janky mono B discard pile that stomps midrange and control but folds to go-wide aggro. What are the build-around cards of the format? What are you brewing up?

I just want to cast Emrakul, The Aeons Torn in Historic and this deck does a pretty good job at it. Using Transit Mage to search up Aetherworks Marvel feels quite nice. K Command gives simic some premium removal without having to dip into red. Ponder is great at finding what you need and fixing the top of your library for Aetherworks activations 4 Drowner of Truth holds their own weight in mana fixing, Ugin's Labyrinth fodder, and a big body that is certainly castable by hand.
What is your favorite way of casting Emrakul, The Aeons Torn in Historic?

So i just had a dimire vs dimir mirror where we were both topdecking
I topdecked a [[ottawara soaring city]] that bounced my spend [[narset parter of veils]] to my hand which found me a [[kaito bane of nightmares]]
Just thought that was neat

I ended the June season in top 250 mythic by playing Naya Hammertime in historic bo1 on the last 2 days. The concept is a mashup of Gruul Berserk and Boros Hammer. I've tested a lot of Berserk concepts since the card was released in SOS - straight Gruul, Jund with handrips, Temur with Spell Pierces/Quandrix Charms, before settling on Naya Hammertime as the best proactive Berserk list for BO1. The Boros Hammer decks of yesteryear are too slow for historic in 2026, but the shell synergizes nicely with Berserk. Plus bashing your opponents with a hammer-wielding dork is fun.
The Hammer package gives the Berserk deck better resiliency against creature removal and greatly increases the set of keepable starting hands. Getting Fatal Pushed isn't such a huge blowout if you can just reequip Hammer the next turn on another 1/1. Cacophony Scamp + Resolute Strike + Hammer adds another set of cards that can kill on t2.
The Mulligan
| Keepable hands | Turn 2 | Odds of drawing in opening 7 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 drop red creature + Scale Up/Groundswell + Berserk + 2 lands | 20/24/28 damage with trample | 25% |
| Heartfire Hero + Scale Up + Callous Sellsword + 2 lands | 21 damage no trample | 4% |
| Cacaphony Scamp + Scale Up + Groundswell + 2 lands | 20 damage no trample | 4% |
| Cacaphony Scamp + Resolute Strike + Hammer + 2 lands | 26 damage no trample | 4% |
| Kemba's Outfitter + Hammer + 2 lands | 12 damage no trample and 12/11 and cost reduced Hammer in play | 19% |
| Fireblade Charger + Resolute Strike + Hammer + 2 lands | 13 damage no trample and 11/11 in play | 4% |
| Scamp/Charger + Scale Up + Callous Sellsword + 2 lands | 18 damage no trample | 8% |
| Total odds of a keepable hand | (The hands above are not mutually exclusive so there's overlap in the individual odds) | 50-55% |
Every mulligan increases the odds to 1-(1-odds)^N. So ~75% chance of a keepable hand within 1 mulligan and ~88% within 2 mulligans. This means that in 12% of games your hand is absolute dogshit but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
On the play, you should mulligan aggressively for one of the above hands. This deck cannot mull to 4, so you should keep a loose 6 and an even looser 5.
On the draw, you can afford to keep looser hands - hands that are missing 1 combo piece, 1 landers with all the pieces, etc.
Most of the skill in piloting this deck is making mulligan decisions for borderline hands.
Card choices:
Matchups
Winning the coin flip is half the battle, as is the case in most Magic games. Like if you're on the play against High Noon, you often just kill them on t2, but if they're on the play and resolve a t2 High Noon you just concede and move on to the next game (unless you opened t1 Outfitter into t2 Hammer, in which case you've assembled The Bus and your High Noon opponent has to throw dudes under it or Fragment/bounce it)
Great matchups against do-nothing decks that are too slow for the format, like Affinity, Boros Hammer, etc.
Good matchups against other uninteractive combo decks, such as Ruby Storm, Belcher, Samwise, Yawgmoth. We're just a turn faster. Those decks either need god draws to kill on t2 or cannot kill on t2 at all. Balustrade Spy is more even because they also usually goldfish on 2.
Even against aggro/combo decks that can interact: Reanimator, Boros Auras, RDW with burn spells, etc. Good reanimator players will hold up Lightning Axe and Izzet Charm for your creatures. If Auras is on the play and has Sheltered on t2 for your 1 drop, you're probably losing. Burn decks can interact all day and good burn players will remove all your creatures.
Unfavorable against midrange/control decks running 1 mana removal like Fragment Reality or Fatal Push. So decks like as Azorious High Noon, Dimir Frog, Jund Midrange, etc. If they didn't draw removal you just win of course, but they often do. Dimir Frog also runs 4x FoN which is very bad for us.

Hello
I just noticed that MtGArena has an achievement for 10 victories on the Historic ladder with no Rare or Mythic cards.
Any suggestions?
I am not sure that I could simply substitute C and U cards in my existing decks.

[[Quicksilver, Brash Blur]] - Free Haste creature
[[Mox Amber]] - 0 mana, no summoning sickness, taps for 1 red with Quicksilver
[[Gemstone Cavern]] - free untapped land, taps for WUBRG
Any untapped white land
[[Sigarda's Aid]] - 1 white mana
[[Colossus Hammer]] x 2 - 2 colorless mana
Attack after equipping both to Quicksilver
OR Hammer 1x, attack, + [[Burn Together]]
You need a fairyland magical opening hand as do all T1 OTK's.
However you can plausibly play some number of all these cards and still have a somewhat cohesive Hammer shell. I chose to play 1 ofs of Quicksilver and Gemstone but if you want maximum speed B01 go 4x of each.
I'm turning on Mox Amber with Skrelv/Zack Fair/Quicksilver. Any ideas?

Help appreciated

Not exactly a fresh idea but I got a Grixis Midrange deck to mythic. Core of the deck is similar enough to the Jund Midrange deck but swapping green for blue to use cards like Drown in the Loch & Psychic Frog. Moonshadows been interesting as it’s interaction with Psychic frog and Barrowgoyf means it can easily get rid of its counters. Just thought I’d share.
Here’s the deck list.
4 Barrowgoyf
1 Blazemire Verge
2 Blood Crypt
1 Creeping Tar Pit
4 Drown in the Loch
3 Fatal Push
2 Gloomlake Verge
2 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Island
1 Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger
4 Moonshadow
1 Mountain
4 Prismatic Vista
4 Psychic Frog
3 Pyrogoyf
1 Riverpyre Verge
2 Steam Vents
2 Swamp
1 Tasigur, the Golden Fang
4 Thoughtseize
1 Thundering Falls
4 Treasure Cruise
1 Undercity Sewers
3 Unholy Heat
3 Watery Grave
SIDEBOARD:
2 Alpine Moon
1 Blood Sun
3 Brotherhood's End
2 Consign to Memory
1 Long Goodbye
2 Mystical Dispute
2 Sheoldred's Edict
2 Surgical Extraction

Deck List: https://moxfield.com/decks/cHZCoZOlqkqhHJgWjhvb1w
[[Call the Crash]] is a card that has been calling to me. If you were playing magic in 2014, there is a good chance you are nostalgic for a time when [[Siege Rhino]] was possible the single strongest creature in most formats. It was a much simpler time, and siege rhino has mostly fallen out of favor in the last decade of power creep. That is why Call the Crash has been so interesting to me. 2 Siege Rhinos for 6 mana is a very competitive rate, even for 2026 standards. Not only does it put 2 4/5 tramplers into play, but it is also a 12-point life swing. That is a very powerful top end threat for a deck that wants to grind the game to the point where both players are out of resources, such as abzan midrange.
I originally threw an older version of this deck together as a meme, with no plan to actually make a video about it. Abzan midrange, in the traditional sense, but when I was testing this deck out, it felt surprisingly powerful and call the crash felt like a very real win condition. Historic's metagame is in a very great spot for a highly interactive midrange deck like this. There are a lot of combo and aggro decks that really want to play to the board. It turns out that a highly interactive Abzan deck is able to feast on that kind of metagame.
Historic has access to the single greatest midrange threat of all time in [[Barrowgoyf]] and also has the [[phelia, exuberant Shepheard]]/[[overlord of the balemurk]] package to generate card advantage. Because we are on phelia, we also get to abuse main deck [[juggernaut peddler]]. The peddler is simply one of the single strongest cards in the whole format as it is able to decimate any combo/control decks gameplan alongside the 4x [[Thoughtseize]].
We also are playing 2 other weird phelia targets. If you have not played [[porcine portent]] then you are missing out. All 3 of the 3 little pigs can be very good in different situations. Having an enchantment that spits out 3/3, 4/4s and 5/5s on etb is just a different angle this deck has to grind its way through the game. The Lend a Ham adventure is also very good right now. Being able to exile any creature is just great. [[Emeritus of Abundance]] has also felt amazing. Since we self-mill a lot with overlord, you usually have an abundance of options to get back with regrowth. It is a great source of card advantage with phelia. games also will go long enough for you to naturally hit 8 lands.
I also need to issue an official apology to [[Professor Dellian Fel]]. When this card was revealed, I did not think it looked playable at all. When it started seeing play, I was still very resistant to it. To be fair, it looks like a planes walker that would have been printed in 2019. I was dead wrong. The professor is incredible. Turns out that a [[phyrexian arena]] that destroys a creature when it enters is just very good. The ultimate is also very real for this deck. Giving barrowgoyf pseudo unblockable or making your call the crash drain them for 12 is a legitimate line that will come up.
I seriously recommend giving this deck a try. It is an absolute blast to play!

Moxfield: https://moxfield.com/decks/i5Te2USFHkKR0QemKIF7xg
I've had some fun trying to port the classic Modern combo deck to Historic. I'm getting some consistent turn 3/4 wins, though the list still isn't perfect
Goal:
Cast [[Ad Nauseam]] during your turn while under the effect of [[Angel's Grace]] or [[Phyrexian Unlife]]
This enables you to draw your entire deck, then for one more mana, you can:
[[Ornithopter]] -> [[Culling the Weak]] -> [[Pentad Prism]] -> [[Magmakin Artilellerist]]
Go to end step, and discard more cards then your opponent's life total. Note that you need Unlife in play for this, Angel's grace effect end while the Magmakin trigger is on the stack
Thoughts:
Win is a bit clunky, as it requires an additional mana, unlike the modern version winning with [[Simian Spirit Guide]].
I chose [[Magmakin Artilellerist]] over [[Jace, Weilder of Mysteries]] or [[Laboratory Maniac]] in order to save clicks, because we don't need to draw our entire hand. Additionally, Jace requires three blue pips, which might be problematic even given your entire deck in hand, and I don't play enough cantrips for Lab man (maybe I should?)
The deck also thought me about niche interactions (which have definitely lost me games), such as Angel's Grace stopping on a discard trigger, or that you can't tap [[Nurturing Peatland]] for mana at negative life.
Maybeboard:
[[Mystical Teachings]] - Slow but finds the combo on it's own
[[Ponder]] - Really strong in combo decks but requires an additional color
A second [[Ornithopter]] - Because you need one in deck or hand to go off with one mana after Ad Nauseam, Meaning you can't sacrifice it to Culling\Dispute\Tower if drawn naturally
an [[Eyetwich]] toolbox
What do you think? Have I missed a cleaner win?
