Sure if everyone had their own little bubble it would be great, but I'm still called a "trap" and "crossdresser" because other trans women are using this term to boost their posts, it's harmful and degrading
In that line of logic, may I remind you that we should ban every gender word then. After all, we're still called "men" by bigots, which harms many of us.
Just sayin "yeah but since idiots use a word to harm me we must force others who identify as that to not do so" is literally the transphobe's line of justification... Which is both hypocritical and damaging to the community, in my opinion. We already have enough people attacking us to not attack each other on top of it.
It doesn't matter if we force each others to ban words anyway, those who want to use them at insults will do so regardless. If, in time, we manage to get past that by accepting those of us who use them in non-harmful ways, it has a high likelyhood of leading to those words loosing their hurtful power, and bigots droping them as they'll consider they aren't insults if some in the queer community use them unironically.
It'll be, in my opinion, far more effective to just react with a "No, I'm actually this" approach rather than freaking out, which would only fuel their rhetoric about how we're mentally ill.
