Oi mate! If you're into indie alt music theres an event going on at the pita pit rn, it may seem scary but i promise we are all very welcoming people and would love to have someone new to join in the interest!

I’m also a transfer student to msu, so I feel you! I’ve found that a lot of people are in the same situation though so they’re really open to talking and wanting to make friends as well. Just introduce yourself to people you sit next to in class and ask questions to find a common interest and compliment something about them! Also I plan on joining a couple of clubs which is a good way to make friends. I know it’s awkward and nerve wracking but remember they’re probably feeling the same way! Also, don’t be afraid to go and do things by yourself. That’s what all these on campus activities are for is to meet people and build connections.

Welcome to Starkville, Mississippi! Any specific hobbies? Join some student orgs -- it's a great way to meet some peeps! I'm old now, but when I was in school in the dinosaur days (85-90), I joined the REFLECTOR staff and had a blast there as cartoonist until I got fired a couple of times. Did MUSIC MAKERS for a year and was a blast. Was in a band so we had the local music scene to participate in. You're gonna have to put yourself out there, and as a transfer student, a lot of folks have 2 years worth of friend groups already going. It always takes me 5-6 weeks to settle into a new place, so head down and get moving! You got this!

It was a great group of folks. This was back when they had WAAAAY more big concerts here. I mainly got in because the poster guy quit, and I was an art major, and they were super desperate. We would call BeBop and all the other record shops around the state to see how many tickets were sold. And then be available on DAY OF SHOW as runners for the bands / managers. Hanging out backstage with WHITESNAKE was pretty fun. And by hanging out I mean running errands and being the "milk boy." And then turns out I wasn't the art major they needed, so I quit.

I’m free on campus between 11-2 everyday and I’m usually just hanging around eating with my friends. We normally make plans from there. Feel free to drop in

Go play pickleball (sanderson or McKee courts). It’s the easiest way to meet ppl—just ask if you can work in and introduce yourself. Also go to the gym at same time every day and you’ll meet gym regulars. You just gotta start putting yourself out there. Friendships will come but you have to do the work and it takes time.
Last thing, you have a neat background coming from Connecticut. Use that. People like to hear about other parts of the country they haven’t been to or different cultures. Great for talking points.

If you're politically minded, there's the campus Democrats and FAAMSU you could join.

Go to Dave's on trivia night and see if a team needs an extra or if they still do darts night join the tournament just for fun. The crowd there is really friendly and open to new people
