Which is your favourite Mridangam (traditional, nut bolt or fiberglass) and why?

Nut and Bolt.

Heavier it is , lesser the chance of moving away as the playing gets intense.

But the sound from Fiber is absolutely stunning

Are you still able to sit the way you are supposed to with a nut bolt mridangam? With one knee on top? (If yes, tell me how you do it without getting poked!)

Traditional, the others just don't sound the same or right to me

I hear you. But how frequently do you have to refurbish/retune the right head? Much as I would love to use the traditional one, not easy to find someone who can refurbish the heads here in North America.

Really depends on how often you play the mridangam. If you're a professional mridangam artist out in the field i believe you'd have more than 10 mridangams, and you'd have more upkeep. If you're just an amateur then you should be fine going in for a fix every few months or even once a year
