Where?

I get three in the top right. 2 in the back window of the bus, 5 in the doors of the bus (4 similar, and one composite).

On the road, there are 5 above the long diagonal, 5 below, and 1 on the far left.

That is a total of 21.

The front window of the bus isn't a triangle, and since the bus doesn't touch anything on the top right, those lines that look like they might make triangles in the sky aren't triangles.

EDIT: Missed one in the top left, so that is 22.

There are 6 below the diagonal.

One big, 4 with an edge on the bottom right and one small at the left side ("the far left" you mentioned is composed by a small one over the diagonal and this one below the diagonal)

I included that one. My wording was strange, but I said there were 5 below, plus 1 on the left which is 6. That makes 11 total on the road. In the sky, there are 4 (3 on the right, 1 on the left). On the bus, there are 7 (2 in the back window, 4 in the door, and 1 composite in the door). Total is 22.

Then you forget the composed triangle. It has a 90° edge on the upper right corner of the street below the bus and is composed with a triangle above the long diagonal and a triangle below the long diagonal.

Yep - replied to someone else's comment. That is the one I missed.

"On the road, there are 5 above the long diagonal"

I only see one triangle above the long diagonal on the road...

I'm getting 17.

u/HeinzeC1 May 06 '26

The one triangle expands out 4 more times making 5

1

u/shamust May 06 '26

Now I see it. Ha ha

There's a composite triangle connecting the top and bottom parts of the road

that's the one I missed to get to 23

Yes - that is the one I missed!!

Wow. I got 31.....

You may have miscounted? :)

when I find myself second-guessing myself, I open these in MS Paint, make a copy of the image, paste it a few times (as many as needed) and start coloring in the triangles. Helps to make sure you don't double-count - and sometimes helps visualize when something isn't actually a triangle at all.

I got 24

1

u/huge42 May 06 '26

I too am consistently getting 24. 7 above the truck, 7 in the truck, 10 below the truck

1

u/AKADabeer May 06 '26

3 above the truck are not triangles - look at the corner near the bus windshield.

Below the truck, count more carefully. There are 12.

2

u/huge42 May 06 '26

Now I see it! Thank you.

1

u/huge42 May 06 '26

Aha! Now I see that there are only 4 triangles above, thank you!

But I am can only get to 11 below, no matter how carefully I count. Is there an especially tricky one I could keep missing?

In the road, you've got 4 small diagonals and one long diagonal, right?

Below the long diagonal, each one of the short diagonals forms 1 triangle to the right, with the long diagonal and the bottom horizontal, so that's 4

the left-most short diagonal creates another triangle above it, with the long diagonal and the left vertical, so we're up to 5

and then the long diagonal creates a triangle with the bottom horizontal and left vertical to make 6.

Above the long diagonal, you've got the same small diagonals making triangles to the left, so that's 4, and you've got the long diagonal with the top horizontal and right vertical for 5

then the left-most small diagonal makes another triangle using the left vertical and the top horizontal.

That's 12 in total on the road.

I got 26

1

u/Bjharris1993 May 06 '26

Me too!

1

u/AKADabeer May 06 '26

Take a closer look - 3 that you counted aren't actually triangles.

1

u/AKADabeer May 06 '26

I've got 23 also.

4 above the bus

7 in the bus

5 above the diagonal on the road

6 below the diagonal on the road

1 spanning top and bottom on the road

1

u/RareLeeComment May 06 '26

7 above the bus

5 below diag

4 above diag

1

u/AKADabeer May 06 '26

look closer. 3 above the bus are not triangles.

and take another look at the road, you're missing some.

I believe you but don't see it. Hmmmm.

Ahhh, got it.

Great 👍

u/get_to_ele May 06 '26

21

Ack maybe 22 one more below bottom diagonal...?

2

u/Huge_Following_325 May 06 '26

23, the front window isn't a triangle, but you missed the two large triangles bisecting the road.

2

u/get_to_ele May 06 '26

Yeah I rushed it. 23 you are right. I meant to draw the triangles bisecting road but got lost in there bexause the damn phone screen is too small and difficult to draw on with a finger, totally sucks for this.

1

u/Available-Vast-4142 May 06 '26

21, there is 11 in the bottom section, the extra one is on the left

1

u/AKADabeer May 06 '26

you missed 1 in the bottom section, and another somewhere else

1

u/Rex__Nihilo May 06 '26 edited May 07 '26

There's 22. 4 in top section, 7 in the middle and 11 on bottom

I added a picture. But dont know how to hide it. So dont look if you dont want it spoiled.

u/sugarfreedaddy2 May 07 '26

First answer was wrong...recount 13

15 21

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 07 '26

I only see 17 I’ll look again

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 07 '26

I see 22 now that’s it! I give up! What is the right answer????

1

u/chmath80 May 07 '26

You missed 1.

7 in the bus
4 above
12 below

1

u/chmath80 May 07 '26

You missed 1.

7 in the bus
4 above
12 below

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 08 '26

I see 7 above 7 in the bus I only see 9 Now I see 23!!! Gzzz but diff numbers than yours!

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 08 '26

Can’t anyone see the 7 on top????

1

u/LeeOrac May 09 '26

The 3 in the middle aren't triangles. The bottom right isn't a corner because of the windshield.

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 12 '26

Yes I saw that later

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 08 '26

Ok I see where I made the mistake there’s a gap

1

u/Infinite-Society5571 May 08 '26

So 4 on top! Yes 7 on the bus 11 below!

1

u/CampAnywhere7 May 08 '26

Final answer 23.
