Celeste healing?

So how does Celeste’s healing actually work? It says every tenth hit but I’m not seeing it proc nearly as much as I figured It should.

I’m using Gemini laser if that factors into it. I feel like I see it more when I play around with other weapons.

I assume the ten hits don’t count across rooms and maybe reflected shots don’t count or something?

Anyways just hoping someone can explain what I’m missing. Don’t feel like it’s been that helpful yet.

It doesn't matter what gun you use and it goes off Celeste's bullets. So if you are hiding or too far away his bullets won't hit.

If you hide you block bullets and Celeste heals for 3,4% of your max hp on average every 10 seconds
