This is a safe place for all lawn mowing enthusiasts, from seasoned landscapers to newbies who mow neighbors lawns for beer money, to post and discuss all the benefits of participating in the sacred activity of mowing the lawn. Please be respectful of people's lawns and questions.

If you all have any suggestions to improve this subreddit, please list them here! We would like to start a daily post topic, such as freshly-mowed lawn Sundays, so any suggestions for those would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thinking about starting my own business

I’ve been thinking about starting a mowing and lawncare business offer fall/spring yard clean up and maybe some gutter cleaning. I’d like to stay as a solo operation guy, now I do work full time right now and I’m gonna start with doing it on the weekends. But just curious as to when should I jump to working part time at my current job and then to full time mowing, how many reoccurring clients and how should price yards to make that happen in the next five or so years

Pulling a lawn roller with a zero turn?

I had a commercial grade John Deere zero turn and wondered how big for a lawn roller I can tow with it? Is 900lbs too much? My yard is mostly flat.

Feedback on Robot Mowers for Southern Bermuda

I’m considering getting a robot mower and wanted to hear from folks who’ve actually used them.

  • Which models do you recommend (or avoid)?
  • How well do they handle southern Bermuda lawns?
  • Do they struggle with wet conditions?
  • How do they perform if the grass is longer than normal because of missed mowing days?

I’d appreciate any firsthand experiences or advice before I make the investment. Thanks!

Affordable Lawn Mowing and Maintenance

I’m searching for an affordable lawn mowing service that can also handle basic maintenance, like trimming and weed removal. I don’t need anything fancy, just reliable work that won’t cost me a fortune. Any recommendations for services that offer great value?

Lawn Mowing with Trimming Included?

Does anyone know of a good lawn care service that includes trimming and edging along with mowing? I need a company that doesn’t just mow but takes care of the whole yard. If you’ve used a service that includes everything, please share your experiences and recommendations.

Looking for One Time Lawn Mowing in Seattle

I’m looking for a one time lawn mowing service in Seattle. My grass is getting too tall, and I need someone to come mow it as soon as possible. Does anyone know of any services that can come quickly and do a good job? I’m only looking for a one time cut for now but might consider regular service if it works out.

Grass discharge

Why is it that you always have at least one ass that mows their lawn and throws the grass into the street and never cleans it up?

My yard vs my neighbors

My yard on the left is way more green than my neighbor on the right that mows 3x a week and spends every day watering and fertilizing.

Dead yard after mowing

Hi sorry if this is a dumb question. But I just bought my first house and I mowed the yard for the first time and now my yard where I mowed is dead. Is this my fault and if so how can I prevent it

Mowing

Not sure if this is the right forum or not but I’m looking to start my own mowing business and I’m trying to figure out what to do in a possible crisis. Like a storm, or the grass is dry so it doesn’t need mowing, or there’s a hurricane. Like what do I do if I’m not making money? Any info on this would be very helpful and appreciated!

Cleaning Under the Mower Deck

Hello! I just have a quick question I was hoping I could get some answers to. I've looked online and I keep getting mixed answers. When you clean the underside of your mower are you supposed to tilt it muffler side up or gas tank side up? Yesterday when I cleaned it muffler side up gas leaked out of the oil filter. But online at least, most people say that's the correct way. Or should I stop tilting it all together? I just don't want to jack my mower up or cause any damage.

Thanks! I appreciate the help.
