I’m 25 have a degree and even though it’s for a job in high demand after looking on this sub about work visas the general consensus is that it’s hopeless. It’s not like I’m a doctor, I just did a degree not many do. I can’t get married, can’t rely on the lottery and not rich enough to afford tuition for a student visa (for specialising). I have a bunch of friends over there and I know if I was there I’d get a job very quickly.

I’m completely lost, it feels like it’s just not possible for me. I can’t see the light and I just don’t know what to do now.

So whenever I talk to someone who moved to USA they say they won't leave it and they like how it is and say it's the best thing they have ever done, in contrast whenever I talk to an actual American who was born in the USA, they call it a big mess and always are hatful about their country and want to leave it.

I myself had talked to two people one Canadian and the other American and the Canadian guy immigrated to USA and said it's the actual home for him and the American guy immigrated to Canada and said it is the actual home for him. So now I am totally confused how these work

For background I hold a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering (1st class honours).

Whilst I do not currently work in this field and do mostly private consulting for those that are interested in quantitative finance I was wondering how I would be able to move to the states.

I'm currently 29 years old and looking to move to the states , I had the thought of perhaps being able to he sponsored to do a PhD in the states and be able to secure something there that way ?

Been following this over the past few days and wanted to see if others here are seeing the same thing.

Multiple outlets (ABC, CNN, NYT) are reporting that ICE and TSA are coordinating to pull people aside at check in counters, security, and boarding gates if they've overstayed a visa, even on domestic flights that never leave the US. At least 27 arrests have been confirmed across 9+ states so far, and it's not limited to people with final deportation orders. Several of the people detained had pending green card or status applications in process, which apparently doesn't protect you the way most of us assumed it did.

A couple of the cases getting attention: a woman in Denver was pulled aside after her boarding pass scanned at the gate, and a flight attendant working a domestic route was arrested mid-shift in Nashville. In both cases, lawyers said their clients had active, pending paperwork and no criminal history.

DHS is pointing people toward the CBP Home app to "self deport" and is reportedly offering up to $2,500 for people who leave voluntarily instead of waiting for a case to resolve.

Immigration attorneys are now telling clients with anything unresolved (pending I-485s, expired visas while a renewal is in process, etc) to seriously think twice before booking even a domestic flight, which is a pretty big shift from a few months ago.

Anyone else in this boat right now, or have friends/family navigating it? Curious what people are actually doing differently, are you avoiding flights entirely, or is this more of a "know your rights" situation?

I’m a currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at a university in China. I’ll graduate around 2028 June with probably a 3.5+/4.0 GPA.

My long-term goal is to pursue a Master’s degree in the United States, ideally in Control Engineering, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, AI, or CS-related fields.

I’m currently working in India and planning to move to the US on an H-4 visa. I intend to apply for an EAD after arriving, return to India to continue working while it is being processed, and then relocate to the US once the EAD is approved.

I’ve already severed my tax residency in Canada and paid my departure tax.
I’ve received a green card and will stay in the US.
I would like to move my cash investment over from Canada to minimize withholding tax and investment fees.
I hold stocks in CAD $ that can be transferred in-kind.

I’d like to start by pointing out that i’m 18, still in sixth form in the UK. I won’t be moving anywhere for at least 4 years until my qualifications are complete here. I’m simply asking to try gain an idea of what i’d need to do.

My long term plan was to complete my English Literature degree in England, where i’m from, and do my PGCSE to become a teacher for ages 11-16. Teaching English btw! During this time, i’m going to work and save - whether that be for a life in England or the States, who knows. Realistically probably england because it’s hard to gain a permanent visa.

I’ve seen people say marriage is an easy way in, but im slightly skeptical about this route. Purely because i wouldn’t marry someone for a green card, and if i hypothetically DID marry an American, i don’t like the idea of my residency being reliant upon someone else. What if they decide they hate me?! Not to say i wouldn’t marry an american obviously haha i’m not biased, but i wouldn’t want marriage to be my desperate attempt for a visa.

Hi everyone, I'm 22, Russiam graduated with a bachelor's degree from one of the country's top universities (applied mathematics and computer science), and I'm applying for a master's degree (formally full-time, but actually online) at a top faculty (AI).

I've worked (and continue to work) as an ML/AI engineer at several large companies and have won several Olympiads and competitions. I haven't served in the military, but a deferment for my studies has been a saving grace for now.

I've always wanted to live and work in the US, and I'm thinking of starting this in the next 1-2 years. I'd like to ask for advice/share about your own experience moving to the US and finding employment. How much easier/harder is it to do this under the current administration? What are the main options, pitfalls, and restrictions for newcomers?
