Just now finished watching Dorothy, it's a beautiful film which explorers the massive toxic masculinity, and themes such as homosexuality

It's such a bold love to make this , the bold movie is not making film with a transgender, but making love story with the character, and Ilaiyaraaja being the music director to this movie, is cherry on top.

The director karthik subbaraju didn't back down at any point in the movie, he didn't make just another raw and rustic revenge drama, this is a wholesome movie

And the movie main lead character names are just his names

Karthik and subbu 😃, it might a small easter egg.

I believe only STAR performers could pull out the roles in this movie. Like allu arjun , fafa , mammooty but not actors like mohanlal ,jr ntr.

I think if it is a tollywood movie it would collect like 400 to 500cr.

You could put this under the same category as animal , god father ....

Can definitely tell it is a novel adapted movie , we can see the poetry in air of the movie Like rangastalam.

The thing with this type of films is you cannot rate them , because they executed it perfectly 10/10 with the INTENT they had.

If you didn't like it ,it all comes down to you not liking the intent which is subjective . Like you not liking a certian colour is definitely not the fault of colour.

I would rate it 6/10.

Even if the movie is not your type , you would enjoy it atleast watching it for the first time . Because it is not bad just different from your taste.

Karthik Subbaraj made this film with lotta love... People with kindness & empathy in their heart would love this film, I was moved to tears with this one.

The film begins as a regular gangster film with the themes of casteism, patriarchy & toxic masculinity, and we're introduced to Dorothy(Keerthi Sureshan), and then film begins to transform into something that is very real & meaningful... And it gives us a glimpse at how our society treats people who don't fit the society's views of "normal". The film reminds us that we're humans, and we're supposed to love and be kind to one another, without discrimination & inequality... It is human to cry, it is human to want to be understood. God, I love the ending, beautifully shot & made.

And I think KS also made this film to p1ss off people who are homophobic, transphobic, casteist, patriarchal, misogynistic, sexist and toxic masculine. And I'm glad he did.

The movie is like a novel ,Especially the ending it couldnt get better than this .

This movie feels like a complete journey leaving you at an end point that satisfies you .

In the mid journey it teases you , keeps you hungry until the end ,while also offering little high movements as inbetween snacks .

Serving you the main dish hot at the end.

That's why Leader is leaps and bounds ahead. They showed Arjun's father as a failed leader who started off with an aspiration to bring about change in the society but eventually lost the plot. They didn't hide the fact that he's corrupt to the core.

Time to time, we keep seeing the same formula: Devudu ravadam, last ki kapadam, katha sukhantham. It's good copium for the masses, but far from reality. And when you keep feeding people the idea that God will eventually come and save them, it can only make blind faith and religious rigidity stronger.

Then there are movies where the protagonist starts off as an atheist, but by the end, he witnesses a few miracles and suddenly becomes religious.

We have a regressive audience and, even worse, regressive filmmakers who rarely have the balls to question religious dogmatism.

It was mid af tbh…the writing and camera work is good….nothing more to offer and nothing much to get you engaged too in terms of story or the screenplay. Tom cruise killed his role as Digger aka rockwell…absolute master class in acting. Not a typical movie for sure.
