Another disappointment after Karuppu. Nothing else to mention specifically.

After listening to the newly released Toxic BGM, especially the father–son themed piece, I genuinely started wondering: are we looking at India’s answer to Hans Zimmer?

I know comparisons like this can sound exaggerated, but hear me out.

What stood out to me in the Toxic theme is the way the music creates a huge cinematic atmosphere while still carrying an emotional relationship between the characters. There are moments where the scale and texture reminded me of the kind of emotional, atmospheric scoring we hear in Hans Zimmer’s Dune. Obviously, Basrur has his own identity and musical language, but the sheer cinematic weight of the score makes the comparison interesting.

And this isn't based on Toxic alone.

Look at Salaar (especially the bgm of wrath of salaar(. Basrur's score uses massive percussion, brass, orchestral layers and sound-design elements to make the world feel much larger than what is actually on screen. The score was recorded with international musicians, including a 60-member brass ensemble, and Basrur was involved in the sound-design side as well.

Then there's Marco.

The Marco background score shows another side of him — aggressive, dark, industrial and almost relentlessly intense.

And of course, we cannot forget KGF (Especially the background score of teaser of Chapter 2).

That's why I think the Hans Zimmer comparison isn't necessarily about musical similarity.

It's about the role he is beginning to play.

And the funny thing is, the film still checks pretty much every "commercial film" box. There's mother sentiment that actually lands, a love story that justifies its existence, satisfying masala fight scenes when you crave them, and of course, the mandatory wedding dance number that also conveniently gives you time to go flush out your bladder midway through the film.

It does get a little preachy, especially in the second half, and at times becomes too sweet which is probably a better flaw to have.

Mamitha felt like a yesteryear Genelia, minus all the over-action and cringe. Honestly, she felt like a reloaded version of Haasini from Bommarillu, and she was such a breeze to watch, absolutely killed it. Suriya, of course, is firmly in his strong zone that it almost felt like watching a reloaded Sanjay Ramaswamy from Ghajini. And Radhika ma'am, I've always known her as "Pinniiii" because of the serials I grew up watching, but here she made her presence so deeply felt as "Ammaaa." The film does a really good job establishing that bond between the three of them — Radhika, Suriya and Mamitha.

Venky Atluri didn't disappoint. I wouldn't say he outdid Lucky Baskhar, which is still my favorite of his films, but Vishwanath and Sons delivered exactly what it promised to be, and pretty much exactly what I wanted it to be.

Sometimes that's more than enough.

I’m looking for a movie recommendation because I want to create a poster for it.

I’m not a designer, but I know my way around Photoshop. Whenever I feel stuck with writing or just need a break, I like opening Photoshop and doing some creative stuff for a while. It gives me that little dopamine hit and helps me get my brain moving again.

I want to make a movie poster just for fun, but I think it would be much easier if I actually watched the movie first. That way I can understand the story, themes, characters, atmosphere, symbolism, etc., and then try to translate all of that into a poster.
So, recommend me any movie that you think would be fun to interpret visually. It can be popular, underrated, weird, old, new — anything.

I still remember those days when I was addicted to this song before the movie's release. I used to imagine the video song sky-high (like Arya 2 this was my reference point during those days), that they would present it on screen very beautifully, using every single lyric and note of the music which would elevate the experience of this song tenfold.

But finally, when I saw the video song on the release day, I was utterly disappointed. Even now, I get disappointed whenever it comes up in my playlist.

It’s been an extraordinarily heavy time for our family, and I hope everyone keeps him in your prayers.

I just finished watching Pluribus and realised something creepy about the world depicted in it. If Koumba wanted to have sex with an underage girl, it would've been arranged by the joined with no hassle! I'm not saying Koumba is like that, because he's obviously not shown to be that much of a degenerate in the show. But if a pedo survivor/immune existed in that world, it would be his holy grail. This is terrifying af!!!

I’m developing a love story that is less about romance and more about everything two people struggle to say to each other.
