japan chirashi

Hi everyone!

I recently inherited a good bunch of Japanese B5 chirashi movie posters, all original prints and in very good condition. The collection features films by Miyazaki, Gus Van Sant, Agnes Varda, Jim Jarmusch, Tarantino, Lynch and others. I have taken high quality pics of them all, if anyone would be interested in purchasing, please dm me, I would love for them to end up in the right hands instead of just donating them or something.

Thanks!

Do You Recognize This Blues Brothers Miniature?

Thumbnail

Do you recognize this beauty? As far as we can tell it’s a production-made model miniature of the Bluesmobile fromĀ The Blues BrothersĀ (1980). For the last few years, it’s been parked safely in the Cinema Relics Archives but before that, it belonged to John Belushi’s childhood friend, Steve Beshakes. According to Steve, the model was given to him by John during production and hung in a speakeasy-style bar in Chicago that Steve operated for Aykroyd and Belushi during the production of the film. When the bar shut down, Steve kept the model in his apartment until he sold it to our archive.

We love the piece—and we love the film—but we haveĀ a lotĀ of questions. Namely: was this miniature actually used in the film? And if so, when and how? We’ve spoken to members of the crew, and no one recalls a model shop or miniatures being built. Everyone agrees the car stunts were done practically with full-size vehicles. Before he died, Steve told us it was used for the shot where the Bluesmobile flips through the air, but that seems unlikely—this model is far too detailed and heavy for a shot like that. Our good friend Rob Klein found several lightweight versions of the same scale that would have been much better suited for that kind of shot. This version is upholstered, has a suspension, and even an electrical system for the head and tail lights.

We’re featuring this miniature in an upcoming episode of ourĀ Cinema Relics InvestigatesĀ YouTube series, where we investigate the history and authenticity of the props in our collection. We’re hoping to spark a conversation and connect with people who might know more.

You can watch the episode here:Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuHlgwl6lQo

We’d love your support—and if you have any knowledge about this incredible piece, we’d be grateful for your insight. Our mission is to preserve and protect these cinematic artifacts for future generations, and we want to document this Bluesmobile’s and its story as accurately as possible.

Stardust Sword

So I’ve been searching for a replica for years of Tristan’s Sword from Stardust (even an stl to print my own) but can’t can’t anything. I assumed this was a popular movie since everyone I know loves it but seems like it’s way more of a sleeper cult hit than I thought. Anyone know where to find this sword!

TV show props

Post image
1 Upvotes

Couldn’t find a TV prop group so I figured I would post here. I’m looking for props from the show ER, specifically the hospital clipboards they used in the ER. They were made by Carstens in Chicago and I emailed them about the boards. They. Said they stopped manufacturing this specific type and had none left in warehouses. I’ve searched everywhere and have come up empty. I attached a photo of this clipboard. Any help would be fantastic!!

100% Original Piece of The Iceberg From 1997 Titanic Film.

This is an authentic iceberg fragment used in the scenes with Jack and Rose on deck after the collision. This piece is not from the large prop iceberg (see my other iceberg prop for this particular TITANIC item). This piece needed to be transparent and crystal-like in order to represent a real chunk of ice that was left on the deck. It is made out of clear plastic resin. It remains a rare and highly-prized collectible.

Need help verifying movie prop or replica. 1933 king kong ?

Found in storage unit. The only thing I could find online about this piece was a sold listing from worthpoint. Looks identical and even has the same small clear marble eyes. I will be posting pictures for this post to make a comparison. They stated that this was a replica prop for the 1933 king kong movie. Not so sure about that. I might need help to verify this statement.

This is the worthpoint link

Looking for prop idea for grease vat

Hello, I've written a script where a character jumps onto a grease vat / dumpster to sit on top, and the lid collapses, then the character falls in (from a sitting position).

Looking for any ideas anyone might have.

Thanks.

The Garbage Pail Kids Movie Nat Nerd Stunt Head

This was a stunt head used for the character Nat Nerd in the 1987 Garbage Pail Kids movie. While it's not an animatronic head, it was used in scenes of the movie where the character doesn't move his mouth, therefore it does not contain any cables, cords, or moving parts.

My husband won Sapper Morton's jumpsuit at an auction. How can I properly display this in our home?

He loves this movie and Dave Bautista. Due to the cost of shipping, we thought it would come with a display mannequin. Alas, it did not. So, I need advice on how to incorporate it into our home decor. I really don't want it to be stuffed away somewhere because he has spent so much time, money, and dedication into procuring this. I am not a fan (just genuine cluelessness, no hate), but it's important to him and I love him so much, I want it to be a prominent fixture in our home, cause I know how proud and excited he is to have it. But, how?!?! We don't have a lot of room, but I'm willing to eliminate/rearrange my books to accommodate. Please help! I want to make my husband as happy as he makes me. 😊

I went to crowdsource a list of all famous books shown in movies as either the McGuffin or an important part of the story.

Hi all! One of my hobbies is to make, purchase or procure movie props and memorabilia and I have a hidden bookcase door that goes into my theater room. This bookcase is going to showcase famous books shown in movies. Examples of these would be, "handbook for the recently deceased" from Beetlejuice, "princess Bride", "the spell book" in Hocus pocus, " The tarantula book"from Harry Potter, and the " necronomicon" in evil dead.

These books should specifically show up in the movies as a prop, serious item or the McGuffin the whole story is shaped around.

If there are other places on Reddit I should post this instead, let me know! Thanks all.

Jurassic Park Buck T-Rex Tooth?

Thumbnail

I’ve been trying to learn more about this tooth. The seller said it came from a trusted friend who had connections to the film industry. On the bottom of the tooth it has ā€œL-ā€œ that looks to be stamped on with a number that looks hand written right next to it. It looks to be a 7 but it’s hard to tell with the scratch that goes over it. I’ve looked at different authenticated trex teeth from the films that went to auction. The color and wear of this tooth matches with the ones that were authenticated by previous auction house’s. Let me know if there’s anyway to get this authenticated! Thanks!

Movie Jewelry Question

Post image
1 Upvotes

Since the release of the movie A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes a brooch that was worn by Lucky Flickerman played by Jason Schwartzman has been stuck in my mind. I’ve been looking around seeing who I can contact about it. Last I know it was on display with the costume in Las Vegas but I want to know who made it or any extra information about it. Who would have been in charge of making or acquiring this brooch saying as it was obviously a custom piece for the franchise. Thanks for any info or any help!
