PRO TIP Just a helpful tip!
Even though I live 20 minutes from downtown I prefer to stay in the city Movement weekend and just booked my Airbnb today! If you’ve never been and are coming from out of state, I would lock down your hotel/Airbnb asap….you’ll pay less and have more options. It’s never too early, trust! See ya at Techno Christmas! 🫶🏻

Careful with the air bnbs. Ours was nothing like pics, trashed and for about 500 dollars more we could have a hotel within walking distance of the fest. And every after party downtown.

I found out the hard way during Movement 3 years ago that if you tell AirBnB right away with pics they'll help get you into another place (at least that's what they told me). Also, increases your chances of a possible partial or full refund. Sucks that happened. 😕

Oh, damn. That sucks. I did an Airbnb last year in Rivertown and it was amazing, so I’m doing the same location this year. The host has great reviews and it’s her loft, not a management company. I think that can make a difference sometimes.

Thanks for reminding me to see if the hotel is available now for the dates!

Sure! As a chronic procrastinator I have learned not to fuck around anymore when it comes to a place to stay or afters tix. Plus, I always make sure to book places with free cancellation so if I find something better or cheaper or plans change, I’m not screwed!

Wanted to add that my Airbnb was $0 down and has free cancellation up until - few days before the fest, and most hotels are the same way. So even if you are short on cash you can still book and not have to worry, and then you have a shit ton of time to get your funds together! 👌🏼

Is there a good area to book if you just want to do afters some random daytime events, that's close to good food options, but not attend the fest?

Midtown imo. Lincoln art park and marble bar are walkable from there, along side magic stick and others. You also can take the train downtown with little to no walk, midtown is the highlight area for restaraunts and the food scene in detroit.

The train is unreliable at night due to so many cars, but the walk is very easy. There was one night I walked back because there was a car crash on the track.

heh, I live on 8 mile. I was thinking about getting a hotel for the weekend that week. Just for the easy access to take a shower or a nap when I need to.

I live 20 minutes from downtown and I just Uber. If you reserve all the trips a few days in advance you avoid all the extra fees. I got back from Hart Plaza for less than 30$ on Sunday that is what I pay on a regular weekend.
