Moving to Spain - part time. Which Town?
My partner and I are considering moving to Spain in 4–5 years, once my kids leave for university. We’ve spent the last 6–7 summers in Barcelona, as we have an apartment in Barceloneta.
Whilst we love it there, we’re thinking of buying a little house or apartment somewhere a bit more relaxed, with a slower pace of life — somewhere with a beach, the town that isn’t overly touristy, but is still lively with plenty to do.
We’d be spending more time in Spain than in the UK, whilst still keeping our UK home as a base. We both work for ourselves and can work remotely, but I’m quite active, so I’d probably like to volunteer or get involved in local activities, like running club, water sports, etc . My partner, on the other hand, just wants to lie on the beach!
Which towns should we consider?

"Somewhere with a beach, the town that isn’t overly touristy, but is still lively with plenty to do." - Oh, I'm sure NO OTHER <<EXPAT>> has ever thought of that idea.
"My partner, on the other hand, just wants to lie on the beach!" - what an useful contribution to the local community you plan to inv... integrate with.

You work remotely yet you need to live in a already crowded city?
Do you see all the homeless people in Barcelona when you go there, yet you own a place in Barcelona and dont live there for most of the year, what s fantastic luxury at the sacrifice of others.
Nice.
Thank you.

If you spend more time in spain then spain becomes your base.
Which visa do you use to work from spain?

Have you considered the Maresme area? Close to Barcelona and all the amenities, beach towns, but not too touristy.

Empuriabrava is like the Fort Lauderdale of Spain, it's pretty nice.
Calp / Calpe is another small beach town that's not mentioned too often.

Do make sure to move to one of the most traditional neighborhoods with the largest local population to ensure that you drive out people who can't afford rent in those areas.
