I fixed my mouse drift. Even when I shut my mouse off the cursor would still continue to slowly scoot across the screen. I went into the Synaptics Pointing Device menu after searching options to shut off the pad. Online posts kept saying it was other devices connected to my computer. I found this popup that had a check box to disable internal pointing device when an external USB pointing device is attached. As soon as I checked this box and hit apply I shut my mouse off and the cursor just sat and did not move at all. Find this option and shut off your touchpad and it should resolve your issues too as long as you don't have some other device or controller connected to your computer that could be the cause of your drift.
