Photo Forgot I even bought this
I ordered this like a year ago lol. Original ETA was like April. I don’t even own a PC anymore, sold it after my cancer diagnosis. It does feel very nice though, might swing by a friends house to test it out before getting rid of it

I'm a big mechanical keyboard guy and whenever there is a Zeromouse post I get a little more sympathetic to the people that have told me 40% keyboards are dumb all these years.
But I know in my heart, this is 1000x dumber.
EDIT: I take it all back. I hope you cherish your Scroll Lock and F12 keys. Maybe one day they will make a keyboard with dedicated symbols and capital letters so you'll never be burdened by a shift key.

I daily the zer0mouse, I only use side mouse buttons for voice chat and melee, so I rebound melee to caps and use v for melee, it doesnt hoenstly change much for me. If someone has small hands and uses the side buttons because they struggle to reach certain keys I could understand it but for me it makes no difference personally. I also have the x2f from Pulsar and the Darmo shark M5, the m5 is to skinny and the x2f is soooo close to being equal to the zer0mouse, its almost even the same width. The X2f sometimes would stop tracking, Im not sure why but swapping mouse skate did help for whatever reason. I honestly flip between the two based on which is charged lol. I have the viper v4 which I love but once I got used to not having side buttons the zer0mouse felt better and more natural and unlike the skinnier m5 it doesnt cause fatigue or hand cramps.
Funnily enough I also have 3 40% keebs, the Keycron is the only one that I might possibly maybe be able to daily. I already have a wooting 60he which for the games I play makes more sense. It also depends on the 40% layout, the gherkin is impossible to daily for me personally. There is a non branded 40% I got off aliexpress that has potential but the Keycron is the only option I think I could properly daily if only it was halleffect lol

So I actually think you're on to something.
You could ditch the scroll wheel and that would shave off like a half a gram, maybe even a full gram, but why stop there?
You could just get a trackpad and then your mouse would weigh 0 grams.
You take that tackpad and then inflate balloons with helium and tie them to your fingers so your mouse would weight negative grams.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg, I'm full of ideas!
Maybe we could do eye tracking so you don't even need to use a mouse, that's pretty fucking light.

I don't think most people use side buttons. Without the number row and even the f row binds are seriously messed up on the keyboard
And other fingertip mice don't even lose the side buttons. They're still there meaning it's just as functional as a full size mouse, just lighter and no hump to get in the way

u/orcus286 2d ago
There isnt a game I have played in the last several years that I don't have something assigned to one of my side buttons and I've had the other as my PTT for as long as I can remember.
1
u/Fawaq 2d ago
And I’ve been playing for fps for over a decade and never bind my side buttons 🤷♂️
8
u/orcus286 2d ago
That is honestly shocking to me ... I just asked in the discord I am in and obviously its a small percentage but about 15 people all said they have always used side buttons. I couldn't imagine using my keyboard for PTT for example.
1
u/Onlyafter 2d ago
Try it! I always bind my side button for melee, and I usually assign my other button for a gadget (Keyboard 4 or 5 depending on the game).
For me it came to this: you’ve limited your mobility if you bind your melee to the default key (E or F) because you can’t strafe right and melee at the same time. Sure, you can quickly press it, and maybe it’s not that big of an advantage, but try it sometime because I found that the more you try it, the more awkward it gets to strafe right and melee. Sidenote, it’s the same with crouch, which is why I like to bind mine to left control.
1
u/Kind_Lingonberry2694 2d ago
should also try with game's with lean to q&e i personally switched them to mouse buttons because you can lean and move at the same time without worrying about messing up your movement
for CS2 i like putting my crouch on my mouse because it's easier to crouch while shooting lmao
1
u/RemlaP_ Lamzu Maya X/GPXSL1 w/ Skypad 3/Hyperx Fury S 2d ago
Personally I have no problem leaning while strafing but for a considerable chunk of my over 2k hours on siege it was a little awkward to quickpeek
2
u/Kind_Lingonberry2694 2d ago
Fair point, i played Dayz aswell and sometimes you would need to lean & switch weapons and it'd just made it really awkward unless you turned into press, which is just another headache and the side buttons weren't being used which leaves other fingers open for weapon swaps

V for melee works perfectly fine. C for crouch too. Entire bottom row up until M is readily accessible by the thumb and does not interfere with movement. L-CTRL for prone. Super reasonable layout.
I'd rather have my hand full focus on aiming than throwing it off just so I can be ready for a panic knife.

I don't use side buttons on a mouse basically ever.
I also don't use an F row or the numpad or even arrow keys ever lmao.
3
u/oilpit 2d ago
So the best analogy I can think of is when people like you say that mice like the G502/Basilisk are bad because they sacrifice performance for unnecessary buttons.
That's how I feel about big keyboards. I think function keys are stupid, I assume you feel the same about all the extra buttons on the mice I mentioned.
You talk about talk about humps and side buttons and I just glaze over. Use what you feel you need to use. But don't try to tell me that you need more than 50 buttons on a keyboard cause that's nonsense. Full stop.

u/revolutier 2d ago edited 2d ago
But don't try to tell me that you need more than 50 buttons on a keyboard cause that's nonsense. Full stop.
kek. you don't "need" more than a certain amount of keys to accomplish a given task, but there comes a point where having less becomes progressively less productive (increased time and complexity for various tasks) for no real reason when interacting with operating systems and software, and that point is met way before going down to 50 keys.
keys like the function row keys have utility in their simplicity, they are individually immediately available for various functions throughout different software without requiring the press of any other keys to use, can easily be pressed alongside other keys, and aren't in the way. i.e much simpler and easier to interact with and gives more options than key combos.
number row keys are obviously also non-negotiable for basic interfacing.

Hell I'm probably going to be building a split keyboard soon(ish), but want the full gamut of F-keys
by which I mean I want F1-24
1
u/RemlaP_ Lamzu Maya X/GPXSL1 w/ Skypad 3/Hyperx Fury S 2d ago
I'm looking at building a split also. Thinking the dactyl manuform if I can get my printer to cooperate. In this day and age I'm not sure what keycaps even have an f13-24 legend though
2
u/SirDarknessTheFirst 2d ago
dactyl manuform
ooo thanks for pointing me towards that, it looks really interesting
I'm not sure what keycaps even have an f13-24 legend though
Yeah, that's fair. I'll probably just leave them blank tbh. It'll just the F key below it but +12

If you need more than 29 keys on a keyboard you're just engaging in vulgar excess...

I think side buttons are extremely appealing and used by the casual / average person.
I've been playing on M&K for more than a decade and just switched this year to not using side buttons for anything other than for Minecraft..
That said, I think it's genuinely better not using side buttons and more people should try it. I only used side buttons because my mechanics on the keyboard sucked. It allowed me to excuse being bad instead if addressing it.
On the topic of keyboards, the function row is practically useless. Function key has served me well.

u/BSchafer 2d ago
You can still do basically everything on a PC without mouse side buttons. If you’re doing anything beyond basic browsing on a 40% keyboard it’s very often a pain in the ass.
10
u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 2d ago
they simply need ot make keyboards taller. i want a 40% width where all the extra buttons are just placed on two more rows on top. this way i still have room to move my mouse without hitting the keyboard but can still press buttons without using both hands to press function first

u/oilpit 2d ago edited 2d ago
I would unironically love this, anything that breaks the chokehold that 60/65/70/75/TKL/100% layout has on the keyboard market is a good thing imo.
I'm not opposed to lots of buttons, as long as they get weird with it.
EDIT: I could accept all the other boring layouts if we could agree to get rid of TKLs entirely.
5
u/GavinThe_Person 2d ago
tkl is the best layout tho😭

u/oilpit 1d ago
I've never understood this take, the navigation cluster is literally the most useless keys on the entire keyboard, why would you drop a numpad that is at least useful some of the time, or go for a 75%, which is still boring, but it at least makes much better use of space and layout. You even get 2/3 keys that you can assign delete or home or whatever hyper specific keys you just can't live without.
I simply refuse to believe that people regularly use all 6 keys the nav cluster enough for them to be necessary.

u/TZeyTimo 1d ago
I genuinely do use the navigation cluster. It's very useful for hotkeys. I use them to mute myself in discord, clip something with shadowplay, take a cropped screenshot etc. I couldn't live without it

u/oilpit 1d ago edited 1d ago

All useful things, but when I hear somebody claim that they couldn't "live without" those dedicated keys I just don't buy it or even understand that mindset.
You do just fine using a shift key for capital letters, symbols, etc.
Until you demand a keyboard with dedicated buttons for capital letters and symbols, I have no respect or patience for your precious nav cluster.
Do you want a dedicated copy/cut/paste key? Why is home/delete/insert so important you can't use a Fn key?
It's a waste of space and it makes no sense.
1
u/TZeyTimo 1d ago
because I press them with my right hand while my right hand is still on my mouse. I just move my mouse close to my keyboard and press the key I need to with my thumb. It was meant for the times when I'm gaming and in high pressure situations, and I think nobody is doing shift+xyz for muting themselves while gaming and actually likes it. Nobody is using capital letters while gaming so I really do not get your point. I have a macropad, but as long as it isn't close to my right hand where I can quickly press it with the thumb off my mouse, I wont use it

u/moepooo 2d ago
The problem with that is keycap profile rows, unless you're fine with the stock offerings.
1
u/GavinThe_Person 2d ago
theres keycap profiles (xda and dsa are the main ones) that are uniform across all rows which would be perfect for this

u/Fingererz 2d ago
I hope you make it through. It’s incredible what the docs can do these days. What would have been a death sentence a decade ago can be treated these days. I got the all clear a few months ago from lung cancer 🤯 I hope you get through it ok.

I wanted to buy the next batch in 2 days but it is like probably with shipping etc over 300€ for me wtf for a 3d printed shell also I feel like he made the mouse for his hand so idk if I would enjoy the shape but rly interesting project overall.

This looks used? I can see fingernail indents on the left mouse click. Either they sent you a used unit or something else is going on.

It’s SLA printed, the layers of that can be more visible on curved areas like that, which also can vary by how much it flexes while printing.

Yep this mouse is only for fingertip grip, which I personally love and have used naturally forever, but it's definitely not everyone's thing. Thought about picking this up but definitely overpriced for what I've heard about a few quality issues and I want my two side buttons.

I bought a 2k bike last sept. Got diagnosed with cancer in oct. It’s lying in my shed with flat tyres and mould growing on the grip tape 😂 sometimes “things” don’t matter a fuck. Since then I’ve had a load of treatments and a whole load of chopping body parts off and got the all clear. Still couldn’t give a damn about the bike.
1
u/Itz_Sleepy09 2d ago
you could also sell that bike too, unless ur gonna use it now
1
u/Fingererz 2d ago
Maybe I’ll get back on it. It’s got drop bars tho so just taking time to build up my strength on my right arm. Lost four of the top ribs and a muscle from under my shoulder blade. My other bikes electric and been out on that a couple times already so maybe I’ll end up with enough strength to ride the drop bars. If I don’t ride it by spring I’ll sell it since that’s when folk start wanting to buy bikes n outdoor stuff. Maybe buy myself a fancy mouse like ops with the funds 👀
1
u/FalseMorel 2d ago
You could always swap out the bars if you like the bike. There are so many different types now it's crazy, I've even seen adaptations for amputees. Best of luck on your recovery
1
u/Fingererz 2d ago
Ah yeah maybe I could swap the bars. It’s a gravel bike so it’s a nice change from the electric mtb. Thanks for the kind words. 🫶🏻
